How to cook whole chicken with apples in the oven

  1. I prepare everything you need. I carefully examine the chicken for the presence of feather residues, wash it outside and especially carefully inside, while removing all internal organs, which often remain even in carcasses bought in a store.

  2. Preparing a mixture for pickling. In a small bowl I put mustard, vegetable oil, salt and spices.

  3. Add chopped garlic and mix well until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

  4. I rub the chicken generously with this mass.

  5. After that, I leave the carcass for 2-3 hours at room temperature, so that it is properly marinated. The ideal option would be to put the grated chicken in a closed container or bag and send it to the refrigerator overnight, and best of all for a whole day. This is exactly the option when the longer, the juicier and more flavorful the meat will turn out.

  6. I peel the apples and cut them into quarters, if they are large, then smaller ones can be done. Stuff the chicken tightly.

  7. I tie the legs with twine. This will keep them together and the finished chicken will look more attractive.

  8. I wrap the tips of the wings and legs with foil, since these parts char very quickly when baked in the oven. Put the remaining apple slices in a mold near the chicken. In this form, I send the carcass to an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 1 hour.

  9. At the same time, after 30 minutes, periodically, once every 5-7 minutes, I open the oven and pour the melted fat over the chicken with a spoon, this will ensure the presence of a crispy and ruddy skin.

  10. After about an hour, the chicken with apples in the oven will be whole.

You can taste it immediately, and baked apples make a great side dish.

On a note:

  • apples are better to use sour varieties, Antonovka is ideal;
  • if the chicken carcass is large, it is necessary to proportionally increase the cooking time;
