GENTLE herring
I cooked this recipe for the first time and the result exceeded all expectations. The herring turned out to be tender, juicy, delicious to the point of indecency. Take note of everything, it's quick, simple, and really delicious.
So:
* 1 kg fresh frozen herring
* 0.5 kg of onions,
* vegetable oil
* salt
The herring must be very fresh, choose carefully using all known methods: smell, touch, torture sellers)))
Peel the herring of skin and bones, cut the fillet into thick slices, you can get bigger, like in my picture, as in the "store" interpretation (in plastic flat jars they sell "microscopic", 1 cm thick, pieces of herring in oil, the cost of which is 200 gr is equal to the cost of a kilogram of fresh herring)
cut the onion into rings (half rings).
Rub the pieces of herring with salt.
Place a layer of herring and a layer of onion in a liter jar.
Lay tight.
Pour vegetable oil on top to the edges of the jar.
Put the herring in the refrigerator for 5 hours.
*** Next time you should try experimenting with seasonings. I think if you add, for example, paprika or coriander, it will be even tastier.

Homemade Salted Herring
Composition: Herring. Salt. Sugar. Ground pepper. Bay leaf... Peppercorns.
Cooking method: Salted herring, salted herring, just say this phrase, everything turns out delicious. As soon as you think about it, you will immediately want to eat a few pieces, or maybe not even pieces, but the whole fish. Homemade herring is no worse than store-bought herring, believe me, it's even tastier. There are a lot of culinary recipes confirming this great variety. For example: we take a herring, clean it of entrails and bones, in short we prepare fillets. Cut into small pieces, salt in a cup, pepper, water vegetable oil... The main thing here is to resist and not gobble up all this food earlier than 2 hours later. Although I can't always stand it, I start eating almost immediately after cooking, I only have time to wash my hands. This is, so to speak, "dry" salting. Here is the recipe for "wet" pickling. Peel the fish and cut into slices. Sprinkle with pepper and chopped onions. Add a dash of vinegar and vegetable oil. Prepare a saline solution: add salt to boiling water. Usually I take 2 tablespoons for 1 liter, but this is all prepared according to your taste and depends on the size of the fish. As soon as the salt dissolves, remove from heat and cool - 5 minutes. Pour the fish and you can eat in half an hour.

Lightly salted, you can cook salmon, trout, herring, herring, flounder, mackerel and other fish.
Naturally, the fish should be very fresh, in the sense that it is fresh frozen, but FRESH frozen. In this way, you can cook fish very quickly ... in a few hours it is ready, large fish is salted the next day.
So:
We cut the fish into fillets, that is, we cut it along the spine, remove all fins and bones visible to the eye, there is no need to remove the skin.
Next, we prepare a mixture at the rate of 100 g of salt and 10 g of sugar per kilogram of fish.
I also add bagged fish seasoning or whatever seasonings I like to the mixture. Everything! We rub the fish thickly with this, pour our mixture on the bottom of the bowl, put the fish skin down, if a second layer is obtained, then we put it on the first layer skin up. Sprinkle with salt on top and in the refrigerator.
I tried this herring today in two hours ... with fresh potatoes. Excellent! When serving, chop the onion into a fish and season it with butter ... I'm not saying that an irreplaceable thing with beer

The word "herring" in the post-Soviet space in everyday life means not so much oceanic herring, but simply a fish salted in a certain way. Moreover, it can be river. For many, this option is even preferable, since making herring from roach is much cheaper in most regions than from silver carp or mackerel. Roach is used for such canned food entirely, of course, pre-cleaned, rid of the head and internal organs, washed. In order not to worry about small bones, lemon juice can be added to the brine in which the roach herring will be "infused". You can eat these canned food with boiled or baked potatoes, rice. Delicious to add them to various salads, ranging from the traditional “herring under a fur coat” and ending with more original ones.

Basic recipes for roach herring

Option one

It is better to choose small roach carcasses for such salting. It is imperative to make sure that they are quite fat at the same time, do not have any damage. Having cleaned the fish as described above, you need to arrange them in glass jars... Then you can start cooking hot brine... Boil water, add (per 1 liter) 2 tablespoons of sugar, 10 black peas hot pepper, 5 - fragrant, 5 dried clove inflorescences, 1-2 leaves of laurel and 2-5 tablespoons of salt, depending on how salty roach herring suits you. Let the mixture boil for about a minute, then put out the fire, pour in 70% acetic acid in a ratio of 1 teaspoon per liter of liquid. Cool, fill the roach with this salted marinade and place in the refrigerator for 3 days. Then drain the liquid, transfer the fish to clean jars, cut the onion into thin rings and splash with fragrant sunflower oil. You can also add some pepper.

Second option

There is another option for making roach herring, a little more time consuming. To begin with, the cleaned and prepared fish should be folded into a jar or small saucepan in layers, generously sprinkling them with salt. Keep in the cold for a day. Pour with a cooled solution of vinegar (prepared as follows: 2 teaspoons per liter of warm boiled water), store it in the refrigerator for another 5 days without touching it. After that, you can decompose the ready-to-eat dish into jars, fill it with oil and add onions and spices. Seasonings such as oregano, various types of pepper, cumin seeds, cumin, cloves, marjoram are suitable.

The life of any woman is a multitude of responsibilities and interests. It so happened that the responsibilities of the hostess and the interest in cooking coincided in my case.

Isn't it interesting to salt the fish yourself at home, and not just, but with secret ingredients?

I suggest you try and appreciate homemade herring or marinated river fish.

We can say for sure: the recipes described are worthwhile, time-tested and by us personally.

You can try several recipes: a recipe with vinegar, an ambassador with a minimum amount of it (for those for whom it is contraindicated) and an ambassador in a sauce. Of these, you must definitely fall in love with something, otherwise, well, no way.

How to salt fish

For each recipe, I have already found "my" fish. According to one recipe, you can salt expensive fish varieties for the holiday - mackerel or fillets (and not only) of red fish, the second recipe allows you to get indistinguishable from a store herring or a fabulous taste river fish... In any case, we need fresh or freshly frozen fish.

Ambassador rules

  • Before cooking, be sure to clean the fish carcasses of giblets, scales, black films inside and wash well.
  • We cut the river fish into portioned pieces: this is necessary for quick "ripening" in vegetable oil with onions.
  • You can salt not only salmon fillets, but also their trimmings, which can be bought much cheaper (bellies or ridges).
  • The most convenient container is a three-liter jar: it is suitable both for portioned pieces and for whole herring. It is also convenient to use regular rectangular or oval (for whole carcasses) vessels.
  • For salting, we use only coarse salt: any recipes that you find on the Internet are designed in proportions with coarse salt.

The proposed amount of brine is enough to pour three medium herring or mackerel.

If you decide to salt the whole fish (with the head and not gut), the salting time should be increased by half a day.

Decided to salt the fish without vinegar? Then this is your recipe: in our case, it is added only so that the fillet is elastic. Vinegar can be safely excluded from the recipe.

Ingredients for brine

  • 1 glass of salt (faceted);
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 spoonful of vinegar (you can completely exclude);
  • cilantro seeds (coriander) - 8-10 peas;
  • bay leaf - 3-4 pieces;
  • 0.5 liters of boiled, chilled water.

We prepare the fish, place it in a suitable container and fill it with chilled brine so that it is completely covered. Ready herring can be tasted every other day.

We most often use this recipe for salting river fish (asp, bream, pike perch are especially tasty). But if you like the recipe, you can safely adapt it to any type of fish.

  • We clean the catch, wash it and cut it into small portions.
  • Sprinkle everything generously with salt and leave the slices in this state for exactly 4 hours.

  • After the expiration of time, the pieces are well washed in running water and let it drain.
  • Again, put the washed pieces in a clean dish and pour vinegar for 20 minutes. Overexposing the fillet in vinegar is not worth it: we risk burning it (you can understand this by the pale colorless color of the fillet). It is not necessary to wash the fish cuts after bathing in vinegar.
  • At this time, peel the onion and cut it into wide rings or half rings (whichever is more convenient for you).

The last stage is pickling: we put prepared fish and onions in layers in a suitable container. Fill the balls with vegetable oil and leave for a day to ripen.

For this recipe, we need 2 fresh frozen herrings (other types of fish are also suitable) and 2-3 medium onions. We do all the preparatory procedures as in the previous recipes.

Ingredients for the marinade

  • 100 ml of sunflower oil;
  • 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce or 1.5 tablespoons of pasta;
  • 50 - 70 g of boiled water;
  • 60 g vinegar;
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

To prepare the marinade, pour sunflower oil into a deep frying pan, tomato sauce, water and simmer for 3 minutes. Remove sauce from heat and cool. Add vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar and mix thoroughly.

For this recipe fish fillet be sure to disassemble it into portioned pieces, cut the onion into rings. We put everything in a small tray with balls.

Pour the prepared sauce and close the lid. We put in the refrigerator for ripening for 12 - 18 hours.

And that's it! Feel free to invite guests or pets to taste extraordinary dish! Rest assured, secret recipe preparation will definitely ask! Admiration and applause are guaranteed!

In addition, I offer you another method that I met on the Internet - the author of the video tells how to salt mackerel with dry ambassador. I also liked this recipe: it allows you to get homemade goodies quickly and with a minimum of time.

This cooking method is also useful for salmon, there are absolutely no differences in the salting.

Dry salted mackerel

I hope you enjoy our family recipes for pickling. After all, the point is no longer about saving money (although this nuance is also not excluded), but about the fact that we are confidently feeding the family a pure product without preservatives and other harmful additives.

I wish you always to please your household delicious dishes and good mood!

Yours with love, Elena Skopich

  • 2 How to make feeder bait What are the advantages of using feeder gear? The main advantage is the ability to attract fish to the place chosen by the angler, which can be quite far from the coast. In fact, feeder fishing is the process of provoking fish to take the necessary actions in a specific water body. And we attract fish with bait. How to make it up correctly and what should be taken into account when preparing the bait mixture? Factors affecting the choice of bait components First of all, it is necessary to determine the presence of a current at the selected place of fishing, its speed, and the presence of a return stream. After all, you need to catch fish, where it keeps. The same crucian carp is unlikely to feed on the rapids. For the same reason, it is necessary to examine the depth differences and the state of the bottom with the help of a marker, echo sounder, or another method. Well, and the most important thing, perhaps, is to understand what kind of fish you want to catch in this place. After all, both the demeanor and food habits of the inhabitants of reservoirs do not coincide. In addition, there are nutritional characteristics of different types of fish, depending on the season. Bait for fishing in stagnant water The peculiarity of using bait in a reservoir with stagnant water is that the bait that has fallen to the bottom creates a food table and is not carried by the current, does not create a path from the bait. The aromas emanating from the groundbait spread evenly in all directions. In order to attract fish to the food table, in addition to aromas, it is necessary to create a cloud of turbidity in the place of fishing. This is achieved by adding active ingredients to the groundbait, for example dry oatmeal... Bait for fishing in the current When fishing in the current, the destroyed stern ball is quickly destroyed by the flow of water. If the bait consists of small and light components, it quickly drifts downstream, without lingering at the fishing site. Therefore, the consistency used in this version of the bait should be viscous and resemble clay. This is achieved by adding astringent components (for example, pea porridge) to the mixture. In addition, mixing the bait, add water gradually, in small portions (up to 6 = times), each time letting the mixture brew and absorb the added water. It is also effective to knead the mixture for groundbait with the addition of substances that bind the particles of the mixture to each other (for example, molasses). How to prepare groundbait for a feeder Any groundbait consists of the following parts: Base mix. Here we mean a mixture of components that fish of interest to you prefers to eat in a given area. For example, for roach - millet, for bream - corn, peas. Additional mixtures. This refers to mixtures containing components that have some special properties (for example, baking powder). Various kinds of additives that allow the fish to be interested (for example, attractants, flavorings). The mixture should be thoroughly mixed and rubbed through a sieve to achieve uniformity. In addition, the case when a large fraction or live components of the mixture (bloodworm, maggot, worm) are specially added. And since any fisherman wants to catch large fish and more, let's see what else you can lure to the fishing spot. If you intend to fish for bream, then the ready-made mixture intended for this is best chosen as the base mixture. But you need to understand that the bream lives at the bottom, and, therefore, you should not try to raise it in half the water with small granules of the bait mixture. Here, as an additional mixture, it is necessary to add something from sufficiently large and heavy grains. For example, steamed peas, which the bream likes both to the taste and smell. Suitable the same canned peas and boiled hemp seeds. Hemp, by the way, promotes the release of the digestive system of fish. And no matter how much such bait the fish ate, it will not be able to get enough. As for attractants, bream is very fond of the smell of cinnamon. In general, he prefers sweet plant smells (such as vanilla). The bait should also taste sweet. You can sweeten it with the same molasses. The color of the bait also plays a role in the bait. It has been noticed that the fish prefers dark-colored mixtures. And although there is an opinion that large specimens are not afraid of light bait, I prefer to use dark brown and black bait.It is easy to tint with a small amount of construction soot, although special dyes are also available for sale. What the large specimens really like is the blotches of a large and heavy grain fraction that has a bright color. For example, canned corn. Roach can be found throughout the entire water column. Therefore, to attract it, it is necessary to create turbidity using any bait activators (for example, dry oatmeal). In addition, the roach loves the taste and smell of coriander. It can be added to the groundbait both in the form of grains and ground. Carp (carp) is the main object of feeder fishing. To attract it, a huge number of various attractants and odorous substances have been created. Flavors for every taste - from garlic to crab. It is noticed that with relatively cold water it is attracted by mixtures with the smell of worms, maggots, crabs. That is, the smells of animal food. Strawberry, pineapple, tutti-frutti are preferable in summer. Crucian carp is also a great gourmet. Even kerosene is used to catch it. Still, he pays special attention to anise. However, it should be noted that these recommendations are not binding. In different reservoirs, they can be different. Yes, and on the same can change for various reasons. But one thing is obvious - it is necessary to use odorous additives. You need to experiment and you will achieve success. Homemade fish bait cooking secrets

DIY bait for bream

The habitat of this fish is wide. Bream is found both in rivers and lakes and in artificial reservoirs. Despite this, it is quite difficult to catch him. Bream is careful and cunning. In the daytime, he prefers to hide in deep creeks or river bends away from the coast. Towards evening it goes out into shallow water. In order to attract bream to the right place, a special bait is needed. The success of fishing depends not only on the correct mix, but also on its quantity and method of delivery to the place.

The composition of homemade bait for bream

In many respects, the composition depends on the fishing conditions. During the preparation process, it is necessary to take into account the type of reservoir, the speed of the current, the depth, the season, the tackle used, etc.

Anglers are wary of store-bought bait mixes, especially imported ones. For them, it is preferable to prepare the bait on their own, using certain flavors and ready-made feed mixtures in the required proportions during the preparation process.

The ingredients are used:

  • corn and wheat bread crumbs;
  • roasted and crushed oil seeds (sunflower, rapeseed);
  • powdered milk;
  • rolled oats, barley, bran, millet, peas;
  • sunflower cake;
  • eggs, breadcrumb and milk are used to impart viscosity to the mixture;
  • bloodworms and chopped worms (in winter);
  • various aromatic additives - depending on the season and weather conditions.

Hemp seeds or oilcake are used as components, but practice shows that in many reservoirs this smell only scares the bream, and attracts more small fish... So you need to be careful when using hemp ingredients.

One of the main conditions that the finished product must meet is to attract fish and keep it in the right place without giving it enough. For these purposes, components are added to the composition of branded bream mixtures that accelerate metabolism and stimulate appetite. For each type of substance are selected individually and kept secret by firms. Crushed, fried pumpkin seeds are used as an ingredient for enhancing the appetite of bream when creating homemade feed.

The specific set of ingredients and the amount of food required for fishing are determined directly on the reservoir. The components are prepared at home, and their mixing is carried out directly on the reservoir.

The main thing is that all the components of the mixture are well chopped and do not allow the fish to quickly get full.

The dependence of the composition on the fishing conditions

On the course

The density of the mixture largely depends on the flow rate. If in areas with a weak current it is advisable to use preliminary feeding of the place, then in places with a strong current this method will not give a positive result.

In areas with strong currents, it is necessary to use heavy bait compounds, in which binders and soil fillers are specially added. Eggs, bread crumb, milk (wet clay from the soil) are used as binders, and the mass is given due to preliminary steaming of the bran and cake, as well as the use of large quantities of pearl barley, grain and peas. Feed on the current is periodically carried out in small portions. For large bream, there should be a lot of portions, since in the places of casting, "trifles" will always be collected and actively fed.

In stagnant water

In areas of weak current or standing water, the requirements are completely different. A properly prepared groundbait ball under such conditions should be washed out with water for 20-40 seconds in order to attract fish from a large area with its aroma and keep it in the place of fishing. Previously, a little heavy feeding can be thrown into this place, which will hold the fish. To make sure the density of the prepared mass before casting, it must be tested. A small ball is thrown into a reservoir within sight, and its erosion is monitored. The main components in such masses are cake and bread crumbs, which are formed into balls using milk powder or egg powder. Milk powder and egg powder create a cloud of turbidity in the water, which attracts fish, but does not saturate it, which has a positive effect on its activity.

Weather

The weather also affects the behavior of the fish, and therefore the choice of composition. In most water bodies, in hot weather, bream actively feeds only in the evening and at dawn. But in cloudy warm weather, the fish actively moves in search of food throughout the day.

Flavors

Food for bream should be flavorful. The fish should smell and go for it. But you need to be very careful with the combination and quantity of aromas. The strong smell can scare the fish, and it will not match the bait.

The list of aromatic substances capable of attracting bream can be made:

  • vanilla;
  • crust;
  • anise oil;
  • coriander;
  • Carnation;
  • garlic;
  • Dill;
  • fruit essences (pear, strawberry, banana);
  • etc.

This list can be supplemented based on our own experience, as well as depending on the predilections of the bream in a particular reservoir.

DIY bait recipes for bream at different times of the year

Depending on the season, the composition of the mixture changes.

Recipe for Spring

In early spring, a worm is used as a nozzle for bream, respectively, the feed must also contain it in its composition.

As follows:

  • 300 gr. chopped worm;
  • pearl barley, wheat, peas (all together up to 500 gr.);
  • fried oatmeal and millet, 300-500 gr .;
  • 1 kg "Unicorm".

To make the mixture heavier, clay or sand from a reservoir is used. For successful fishing in the spring, 3-4 kg is enough.

Recipe for summer

In the summer months, bream does not gather in large flocks and requires more feed mixture to attract it to a certain place than in spring. The total amount for one fishing trip is 6-8 kg. The composition must include components that create a cloud of turbidity to attract more fish.

Components:

  • 2 kg "Unicorm";
  • ground and fried rolled oats 1 kg;
  • millet - 1kg;
  • peas and pearl barley - 400 gr.;
  • flavors depending on the weather (dill, garlic or vanilla);
  • as a weighting agent for a mixture of clay or sand.

Autumn recipe

In autumn, as in summer, the dosage should be plentiful. A distinctive feature is the addition of bloodworms and chopped worms to the mixture, as well as reducing the components that create turbidity.

Recipe:

  • bran and bread crumbs - 2 kg (or Unicorm);
  • wheat porridge - 1 kg;
  • crushed peanuts - 1 kg;
  • fodder bloodworm or chopped worm - 300-500 gr.

If necessary, a soil from the reservoir is used to give the mixture weight and viscosity.

Winter recipe

In winter, the water in reservoirs becomes clearer and cleaner than in summer. Any bait that is different in color from the bream's natural habitat can alert it. Therefore, most often at this time, natural food components are used. Soil mixed with bloodworms and chopped worms is best for this time of year.

Recommendations for the use of factory baits for bream

There is no universal recipe, but certain components in the composition almost always remain unchanged.

There are many ready-made mixtures from industrial companies that are used for catching bream, but their effect is different in different reservoirs. They are suitable as a basis, but the aromatic components should be selected independently.

But one thing is obvious - it is necessary to use odorous additives. You need to experiment and you will achieve success.

Homemade fish bait cooking secrets

With today's variety and availability of branded baits, many anglers have already forgotten what a homemade bait for fish is. After all, you no longer need to waste your time searching necessary ingredients for catching one or another river inhabitant, as well as puzzle over the selection of proportions at which the bait will work. Representatives of companies, among whom there are many experienced anglers-sportsmen, have already thought about everything for you and optimized the bait as much as possible for one or another fish, as well as for various fishing conditions. There is only one thing, but for almost every reservoir you need to look for its own unique component, the presence of which in the bait will provide you with a catch better than that of a neighbor with premium bait.

Plus, when you try to make your own bait, constantly experimenting and adding new ingredients, you begin to better understand the fish, its habits, and the causes of mood swings. All this gives you a head start over other anglers and allows you to grow above yourself and achieve better results.

Homemade bait for fish in cold and warm water

Depending on the fishing season, the bait will have its own differences, so in cold water (water temperature is below 15-10 degrees), the bait should contain a minimum of the bait itself, and large quantity soil and protein components (bloodworm, chopped worm, maggot). The bait is used fine-grained, dark tones, with little or medium activity. For fishing in cold water for half a day, 1 kg of groundbait, 5 kg of soil (the ratio of dry groundbait to the ground is 1: 5) and 200-250 g bloodworms are enough for us. The presence of soil in the bait will make the fish rummage in it and look for the worm.

In summer, when fishing on a river, reservoir or large lake, you should not be afraid to overfeed the fish, as it will be quite difficult to do this, so the ground is removed from the bait, since it has no nutritional value. But if you fish in a small reservoir (not a paysite), then you need to be careful with the nutritional value and amount of bait. In this case, it can be diluted with the ground in a ratio of 2/3 of the wetted groundbait to 1/3 of the soil. It is also worth noting that summer is a season of experimentation and you can try adding different flavors and flavors to catch fish. For half-day fishing, on average, you need 3-5 kg of dry groundbait, however, its amount depends on the presence of competition, since if there are a lot of fishermen around you, then some of the fish may be tempted by more luxurious tables.

Groundbait composition

Base and rippers

Homemade fish bait, as well as branded baits, consists of a base, flavoring and nutritional additives, flavors, colors, rippers, adhesives and weighting agents.

A base is a mixture that has little nutritional value, mild smell and taste. A fish arriving at the fishing point sees food, there is a lot of it, it tries to eat as much as possible, but cannot fill up. This is also what seeds are for us. The amount of base in the groundbait is on average up to 60% of the total mass.

Breadcrumbs are used as a basis (rusks, crushed to the state of bread crumbs), they can be bought or made by yourself using a meat grinder or blender. Breadcrumbs are made from rye and wheat bread. Wheat rusks have a light color, and if they are lightly fried, then they are light golden, and have a neutral stickiness. Rye, dark in color and absorb moisture, slightly sticking together the bait. The amount of bread crumbs in the base is from 30% (when various components are added to the base) to 60% (when the base consists exclusively of bread crumbs).

It is very good to add ground sweet cheap to bread crumbs milk biscuits like a "ladybug" or ground biscuit, they give the bait a sweet taste and aroma, from which the representatives of carp can not resist. True, it is important to remember that cookies can glue the bait, which is especially important when fishing in the current. Their presence in the base is 1/3 of the amount of bread crumbs.

You can also add macuha to the base (cake left after the oil is squeezed out of sunflower or hemp seeds). It also increases the activity of the bait, since it has many light particles that float up and attract fish from the water column, so if you fish on the current, it is very good when the cake is combined with cookies or biscuits in the bait, the amount of cake in the base is up to 20%.

Instead of cake, you can use ground fried seeds, but you need to remember that they are not stored for a long time, and after a week or two, their aroma weakens.

It is equally useful to add ground hemp seeds as a base, in the amount of 30 to 50% of the volume of bread crumbs. The seeds are fried and then ground in a meat grinder, but here you need to be careful and make sure that they do not burn. If you did everything right, then you have a white grain at the break. It is very good to fry hemp and sunflower seeds in the microwave. Ground roasted hemp seeds should also not be stored for more than two weeks. It is most effective to add them when fishing for roach and bream.

Another component for the foundation is corn grits it can be added up to 30-40% of the volume of crackers. Add raw, steamed or fried.

Homemade fish bait can be based on oatmeal or barley flour. It is added to the base up to 1/3 of the volume of crackers.

If you fish in stagnant water, then it is imperative to add various rippers to the bait base. An inexpensive ripper is bran (waste of flour milling), they have a beige-caramel color and serve to break the bait ball and prevent it from lying in one piece at the bottom. Destroying the ball, they float upward and attract fish that stand in the water column, especially roach. The bran should also be added in a ratio of 1/3 of the amount of bread crumbs. It is also very useful to include in the base various waffles, you can use wafer sheets without filling, then they will only act as a ripper, making the groundbait more inert or with different tastes, such as vanilla, which will significantly improve the taste and aroma of the mixture.

Coconut flakes can also be used as rippers; its volume is up to 20%. Coconut flakes it is not a cheap ingredient, but it has its own flavor that fish reacts well to.

It is very useful to add soda to the bait after we have moistened it and it has been infused, it literally breaks the ball from the inside when it gets into the water. Only after adding it, the balls must be immediately thrown in water

Homemade fish bait. Feed components and additives

Feed components

Their task is to keep the fish at the fishing point for as long as possible, this is actually what the fish will eat.

The base, creates a lot of turbidity and attracts fish, gives the bait taste and aroma, but if the fish comes and does not find anything significant, it will quickly lose interest and will look for something else to profit from. Usually, up to 40% of the weight of the rest of the bait is allocated to the share of feed components, protein and flavor additives, as well as various gluing elements. But it should be borne in mind that in cold water, as well as in small bets, where the fish are not accustomed to abundant feeding, their number in the bait is minimal or you can do without them altogether.

As feed components, we use boiled peas, steamed or boiled barley, canned corn, steamed or raw oatmeal, boiled millet or steamed flaxseed. In cold water, as well as in a small, shallow body of water, you should not add more than one or two handfuls of these components to the bait.

Also, to keep the fish at the point of fishing and activate its bite, homemade bait should contain such nutritious components as maggot, bloodworms and chopped worms, and they should not be poured into the bait itself when kneading, otherwise they will quickly die. We add live food to the bait ball, directly sculpting it before casting, but you can simply mix it with the ground and throw an earthen lump or glue it together with the help of special powdered glue.

Nutritional Supplements

Various nutritional supplements are added to the groundbait, such as plant protein PV-1, its content in the bait is up to 10%. It has binding properties, therefore it is often found in bait for feeder fishing in current conditions. An excellent nutritional supplement for catching bream, tench and carp is roasted and well ground peanuts. Powdered milk and powdered cream is a protein supplement that is nutritious, aromatic and tasty, which also creates turbidity.

Flavoring additives

In order for homemade fish bait to be more tasty, you can add ground coffee(natural or instant), which also has aromatic properties and darkens bait, fishmeal, salt, it is very useful to add it over cold water when it is low in minerals. Squid - can attract both predatory fish and large carp and grass carp.

Adhesive additives

They are used when fishing on the current, their task is to glue the ball of bait, allowing it to sink to the bottom and already there, under the influence of the current, disintegrate, creating a feed table. Here you need to be careful and not overdo it, otherwise we will get a lump of cement, which will lie at the bottom as a dead weight. To glue the bait, you can use oatmeal, ground to a state of flour, corn and wheat flour, starch. Baby food baby, however, it can also be attributed to protein supplements, since it improves the nutritional value of bait.

Flavors

When adding flavorings to your homemade fish bait, you should also consider the temperature of the water. If you fish in cold water, then initially you should not use flavorings in the bait, and add them only in cases of weak bite, but here you should be prepared for the fact that they can kill the bite altogether, so it is not worth adding much. Flavors should have a mild, spicy, or animalic aroma.

Summer is a time of experimentation and fishermen use different flavors, mixing them together in different proportions, but the most versatile for warm water are sweet, fruity aromas.

Anise oil can be used as flavoring agents; carp fish respond well to it. Garlic, you can grate and add to the groundbait, or use finely chopped arrows instead of the head. Garlic is good for catching crucian carp and bream. Tutti-frutti, strawberry, peach, banana, these are the very special fruity scents. Black currant leaves, they must be finely chopped and brewed, after the resulting broth is added when the bait is moistened. On honey with gingerbread, all fish are caught, especially tench and bream. Cocoa is suitable for catching any kind of peaceful fish. Finely chopped dill and fennel, carp react well to them, but catfish may also work. Coriander and basil are bream. Caramel and vanilla are good for carp fishing. Cinnamon is used for catching bream and large roach.

Dyes

No less important is the color of the bait, if the homemade bait for fish differs in color from the color of the bottom, this will scare off the fish, since it will stand out strongly against the background of the bait. So before fishing, you should definitely determine the color of the bottom of the reservoir. The easiest way to find the right color is to purchase food coloring in the store, but you can also use improvised means.

  • The brown color is quite versatile and is suitable for catching any fish, regardless of the season. In addition, most bodies of water are dark in color. To obtain a gray color, brown clay and cocoa powder can be added to the groundbait.
  • Black is also quite versatile, but still most effective when fishing in cold water in clear sunny weather. The simplest and effective method Coloring homemade fish bait black is to add earth, and it can also be darkened by molasses, macuha or ground seeds.
  • Yellow color - already gives a greater contrast to the bottom of the reservoir. Bream and breeder react well to a bait of this color, it is also good to use this bait when the water is cloudy or poor lighting. It is very good to paint in this color not all the bait, but for example a part of the bread crumbs.
  • Red color - bream, bleak and small roach also react very well to it.

It is very effective when homemade fish bait has some of the bread crumbs colored in different colors (yellow, red, green). By the way, this color scheme is found in a large number of branded baits.

Food colors are added to the groundbait before moistening it, after mixing them well beforehand, so that they are evenly distributed throughout the bait. You can also mix the dye with water, which will then be used to moisturize.

Ground in groundbait

If you fish on the current, then you need to glue the bait, clay is used for this purpose. You can buy it at a fishing store, and there are quite a few a large number of different colors. But if you do not want to spend money, then you should look for clay in the pond. You need to take the clay that is located at the very edge of the water.

When fishing in a stagnant reservoir, soil can be added to create turbidity, darken the bait and reduce its nutritional value.

Clay and earth should initially be passed through a sieve in order to get rid of lumps. If we add soil to a slightly moistened bait, and then gently moisten it with the help of an elementary sprinkler for flowers, we get balls that, falling to the bottom, will literally explode. If the soil is added to the waterlogged groundbait, so that the soil absorbs all the moisture, and it is no longer necessary to moisten it, then at the output we will get a rather viscous bait that works great during

When buying branded baits, it is worth studying their composition, of course, you will not take it away on the package. But if you pour a handful of groundbait on a white sheet in good lighting, and use a magnifying glass, you can partially determine what is in this or that mixture and in what percentage, well, then take it as a basis and start experimenting. Also, do not be afraid to taste it or, after mixing the bait, throw a small lump next to you and see how it behaves in the water, what is the rate of disintegration of the ball and the inertness of the bait.
