How many types of tea exist in modern world! White, yellow, red, not to mention the widespread and popular varieties - green and black. It is hard to believe that all this color variety is given by a single type of bush - Chinese camellia. And whether the drink is green, white or black depends only on the method of processing the leaves. But in this article we will not consider the product that the Chinese camellia gives a person, no. The main character of this essay will be blue tea from Thailand. Beneficial features, reviews about taste drinks will be analyzed below. It should be said right away that this tea has nothing to do with Chinese camellia. Yes, and not the leaves of the plant are brewed, but the flowers. Therefore, it is necessary to skillfully prepare a drink of a beautiful turquoise color. How? We will also talk about this in our article.

Turquoise exotic in a cup

Many foodies think they know what blue tea is. This is how oolong or oolong varieties are called in China. For them, ripe tea leaves of a dark green color are harvested. They are medium fermented. Compared to other species, oolong spends more time in the sun and air than green tea and less time than black tea. These leaves, which have passed the average degree of withering, are indeed slightly blue in color. But rather it can be called bluish-gray. And in a cup, oolong tea acquires a completely reddish-golden hue. A drink from Thailand is a completely different matter. To be honest, this is not tea at all in the strict sense of the word. Raw materials for him do not grow on a Chinese camellia bush. And they collect it from the trifoliate clitorium. This plant is endemic. It is found only in Thailand and nowhere else in the world. Its flowers are a bit like an orchid. On the other hand, this vine, which reaches a height of two to three meters, looks like a bindweed. Therefore, the trifoliate clitoris is also called the Thai orchid or moth peas.

What is the difference?

We have already partially clarified how blue tea from Thailand differs from its namesake from China. There is nothing in common between them, except for the name. Tea in the literal sense of the word can only be called oolong varieties. The raw materials for the Thai drink are flowers and leaves of exotic peas. But since we are used to calling steamed herbs (mint, thyme, linden, etc.) tea, why not apply this term to this plant? The moth peas have beautiful large, bright blue flowers. Their petals contain a lot of turquoise enzyme. Therefore, liana in Thailand is also used as a dye. And if oolongs, when brewed, give a reddish-golden infusion, then the flowers of moth peas color the water in a wondrous, exotic blue color. But the taste of Thai blue tea is weak, inexpressive, whereas in oolong it is powerful, rich.

Blue tea production

Everyone has heard of plantations located high in the mountains in South China or Taiwan. This is where the bushes grow, which provide the best raw material for the oolong or oolong varieties. How is Thai blue tea made? We assure you, with no less precautions. The liana of the butterfly pea has marvelous large flowers with intense blue petals - external, large and round, and internal, small. The middle of the bud remains greenish-white. They pick flowers at dawn, when they have not yet opened. Only young buds are suitable for tea. Together with the flowers, the picker (the harvesting process takes place strictly by hand) also removes three leaves, no more and no less. Special tea master monitors the quality of raw materials, sifting out too open flowers or unripe buds. The drying process is equally responsible. After all, the quality of the drink directly depends on it. The petals should be dry and the middle of the bud slightly damp. After the flowers and leaves have reached the desired condition, they are oxidized in a special way. And then they are rolled up in a spiral and packaged.

Moth pea properties

Throughout Southeast Asia, this plant is used as an excellent food coloring. The flowers give an intense blue color. Since the plant is absolutely harmless, such a dye is widely used in cooking. And the Thais themselves prepare "nam dok anchan", or blue tea, from dried flowers and leaves of moth peas. The beneficial properties of this drink have been familiar to the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Smiles for a long time. It perfectly quenches thirst and makes the heat invisible. It is a natural antidepressant. Thais are sure that this tea improves blood circulation and has a positive effect on visual acuity. It is used for more than just daily drinking. The herbal infusion of pea flowers is widely used in traditional oriental medicine. They drink it for problems of the gastrointestinal tract, for a sick heart, they normalize blood pressure, relieve stress, treat insomnia. How does modern medicine relate to blue tea?

Composition of flowers and leaves of moth peas

If you brew blue tea from Thailand correctly, the beneficial properties of the plant will definitely go into the drink. The color enzyme is completely harmless. On the contrary, it makes the drink beautiful and festive. Therefore, in Thailand, it is customary to serve "us dock anchan" exclusively in transparent glass teapots. The herbal infusion contains large quantities iron, phosphorus and manganese. These trace elements are essential for the health of the body. Also, blue tea contains other useful material... First of all, this is the entire line of vitamin B. Traditional medicine is not in vain ascribes antioxidant properties to blue tea. After all, it is extremely rich in vitamin C. Its other brother, D, will make the skin healthy and toned. There are vitamins E and K in blue tea. Have you noticed that there are practically no obese people among Thais? Not only healthy food, abundant in fish and seafood, but also the frequent use of blue tea saves against obesity. The drink contains polyphenols. They are responsible for the rapid breakdown of fats and their removal from the body.

Exposure to minerals

Not surprisingly, because of its rich composition, blue tea from Thailand is so popular in Southeast Asia. The beneficial properties of iron have long been known. Lacking this mineral, a person develops anemia. Iron also has a positive effect on the skin. The mineral strengthens the structure of hair and nails. It is not in vain that they include milk and fish in the diet of schoolchildren. These foods are high in phosphorus. And this mineral improves brain function, develops memory. All this helps the child in the learning process. But blue tea contains no less phosphorus than fish. Manganese is a common ingredient in antidepressants. With the help of blue tea, you can overcome the effects of stress, insomnia, stabilize the emotional background and simply invigorate, like a cup of strong coffee.

Exposure to vitamins

As we mentioned, blue tea is rich in these health-promoting substances. The beneficial properties of the drink come precisely from the vitamin storehouse. How do all these substances affect the human body? Vitamin B 1 is responsible for the proper functioning of the nervous system. It also stabilizes the work of the gastrointestinal tract. Vitamin B 2 is equally important. It also acts as an antidepressant, and it also normalizes metabolic processes in the body. B 2 has a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system. This vitamin is indispensable for those who work at a computer for a long time. B 2 normalizes the pressure in the eyeball, which is why the vision remains sharp. Vitamin B 3 helps the pancreas to process sugar. At 12, it helps to lose weight and prevent the development of depression. There is no need to talk about the benefits of vitamin C. During the period of influenza epidemics, you cannot do without it. But besides the fact that this substance improves immunity, it also fights free radicals. Vitamins E and K, as well as antioxidant C, can be called the elixirs of youth. A D has a beneficial effect on the health of the skin.

Blue tea from Thailand: beneficial properties

Reviews call this drink the elixir of health. Consider its complex effect on the body. So, Thai tea soothes sagging nerves and invigorates at the same time. It normalizes the activity of the gastrointestinal tract and regulates metabolism. People also speak of it as a beauty box. The harm of blue tea

There are simply no such qualities! The drink can be consumed by both pregnant and lactating women. Unless you have an individual intolerance to any ingredient, for example, to vitamin C. Then you need to use blue tea from Thailand with caution. The properties of the drink have been noticed by Thais for a long time. It is renowned for its ability to calm the nerves. Therefore, you should not drink it before a long drive or an important meeting. On the other hand, the drink promotes a productive learning process. It stimulates the brain and strengthens memory.

How to brew Thai tea properly

All the benefits of moth peas can be nullified by simply pouring boiling water over its flowers. And the drink itself will lose its aroma and taste. Blue tea is not an economical product. A glass of drink will require two teaspoons of raw materials. The water should be boiled and allowed to stand for two minutes. During this time, it will cool down to the prescribed ninety degrees. The petals are pouring in hot water, but after ten seconds it is drained. Then the tea is steamed again. In order to give the concentrated blue color, the flowers and leaves of moth peas will take five minutes. This tea can be drunk both hot and cold. It has a delicate floral taste and rich aroma. Lemon juice gives the drink an exotic purple hue. You can add honey or sugar to the tea to taste. Herbal mixtures can also be made. For example, add mint, thyme, or ginger to moth peas.

Drinking blue tea for medicinal purposes

In order for the drink to become a healing extract, it should be steamed differently. Let the boiling water cool to 90 degrees. Pour the spirals of blue tea into a dry thermos. Fill with slightly cooled boiling water and leave for half an hour. This herbal extract is drunk before going to bed in a glass. You can use blue tea for weight loss. This is done according to the following scheme. You need to drink it every other day for a week. Due to the fact that the body quickly gets used to the action of the product, you should stop taking it for twenty-one days. And then repeat the course again. So you can easily lose a couple of extra pounds. Polyphenols contained in moth peas accelerate metabolic processes in the body, break down and remove fats.

Butterfly pea tea is a drink made from moth pea flowers. It is brewed like regular tea. The drink is most common in Thailand, India, Malaysia. Here it is also available for sale, but less well-known than in Asian countries. Butterfly pea tea is hard to find in Russian supermarkets, so it is mostly bought online. There are rumors among the people about the powerful healing effect of this drink on the human body.

Benefit for health

Butterfly pea tea is considered to be incredibly healthy. According to lovers of moth pea tea, there is no such disease that this drink is not able to cope with. Many sites claim that tea contains many biologically active chemical compounds, including vitamins and trace elements. Most often, Butterfly pea tea is recommended for:

  • strengthening hair;
  • improving vision and treating eye diseases;
  • improving the condition of the skin;
  • elimination of depression and bad mood.

Tea is not only drunk inside. It is often applied to hair to strengthen hair, or dripped into the eyes to treat glaucoma. It is often customary among the people to endow outlandish foods and drinks with fictional healing properties. Butterfly pea tea met the same fate. In fact, neither ingestion of Butterfly pea tea nor its topical application provide any health benefits.

How to brew?

The easiest way is to buy and brew Butterfly pea tea bags. In this case, the preparation method will be exactly the same as if you were drinking more familiar black or green tea. The moth pea drink is brewed for no more than five minutes. After this time, the tea acquires a deep blue color. To improve the taste, it is recommended to add sugar, honey or lemon to it.

The taste of this tea does not seem very pleasant to most people, but this is only because we are not used to drinking it since childhood. Thais regularly drink Butterfly pea tea, which is as common for them as coffee or black tea is for us. Judging by the reviews, after 2-3 weeks people get used to the exotic taste of the moth pea drink, and in the future they drink it with pleasure without any additives.

Tea can be consumed both hot and cold. The optimal concentration of butterfly pea flowers for preparing a drink is two teaspoons per cup of water. Some people prepare a liter of tea at once. To do this, they take two tablespoons of blue flowers and pour a liter of water. In reviews, people say that a cold drink will taste better if you add mint, lemon balm or fruit jam to it.

Reviews

There are a lot of reviews about Butterfly pea tea on the Internet. And although many people have not heard of its existence at all, many Internet users have been drinking it for a long time and regularly. Some hope that drinking moth peas will keep them healthy, others just love the taste of this tea. It is mainly brought from Thailand or ordered over the Internet. Less often they are taken in specialized tea shops, even less often in supermarkets or in the market.

People who try Butterfly pea tea for the first time, in most cases, are not satisfied with the taste of the drink. But at the same time, all consumers, without exception, like the deep blue color of this tea. Some people, according to their reviews, the mere sight of this drink cheers up.

Often in the comments they write about healing properties moth pea tea. Usually, Internet users simply retell each other stories they read on the Internet. But sometimes people write in reviews about their own experience of using Butterfly pea tea to promote health. Some of them claim that after drinking tea they began to see better, others note a decrease in redness of the eyes after prolonged work at the computer, and others boast that, in their opinion, hair growth is accelerated.

Believe these people or not - it's up to you. There is currently no evidence of the positive effect of Butterfly pea tea on human health. But there is no harm from this drink either. It can be drunk by all people, including pregnant women. There is not a single mention of side effects or poor tolerance of butterfly pea tea in the reviews. There are no contraindications for using Butterfly pea tea.

Where can I buy?

Butterfly pea tea can be bought in many places. It is sold from tea shops, online and even in regular markets. But when buying a product from private entrepreneurs, pay attention to the packaging. If you are offered butterfly pea flowers in an unlabeled bag, you better refuse. Judging by the reviews, there are times when a person is simply deceived - instead of Butterfly pea tea, petals of other flowers are slipped onto him. Moreover, they are not always blue. You may not see this if you buy moth pea tea in an opaque bag.

It is best to buy Butterfly pea tea either in Thailand while on holiday or online. It costs quite cheap. The price for 50 grams is 100-200 rubles. There are different prices in different stores, the differences are insignificant. Except that in Butterfly pea tea bags it costs a little more - about 400 rubles for 30 pieces.

Invite for a cup delicious tea, alas, I won’t, because I simply can’t - there is a shortage of delicious tea today. Well, since there is no tasty one, I will tell you about an unusual - unique, simply fantastically beautiful blue tea.

How much has already been written about it and how many useful properties are attributed to the plant moth peas: it will improve vision, help grow healthy hair, improve the condition of the skin and nails, strengthen memory and work as an antidepressant. Well, many have probably heard about the effect of losing weight from drinking blue tea. So I couldn't resist - I tried it, expecting a miracle, expecting a fiery of colors and taste, something unusually beautiful, the same as a blossoming bud in the hair of a young Thai woman.

I received this tea bag from "Siamarket".

Country of origin: Thailand.

Weight: 50 grams.

Price: currently 76 rubles, but constantly fluctuates as a result of the dollar exchange rate

The price is frankly penny, but I got this tea absolutely free - it was attached to the parcel as a gift, without even including it in the manufactory invoice, like waffles with mango, which also got as a presentation. Alas, there will not be a separate review for waffles, only as part of a review for the store, but I wanted to tell you more about tea in more detail.

DESCRIPTION OF TEA

My a budget option tea and is packaged just as budget - there is no identifying information on the packaging. If you order tea on "Siamarket", then be prepared that this package should not be taken as a gift, there is a more presentable packaging on the site, but it costs a little more.

The tea itself is not really tea, but the flowers of the moth peas plant, which are collected and dried in a special way:

It is the flowers of this plant that form the basis of blue tea, which Thais are very fond of. A delicate process of collecting buds, which are picked only in the early morning, helps them achieve a special taste and color of the drink.

Then the flowers are dried, but not completely, so that a little moisture remains in them. In the next step, they are oxidized and then re-dried.

The result is the following flowers: hard, not fragile at all, not brittle. That is why there are so few debris and grassy pollen in the bag.

BREWING PROCESS

The usual way: to boil the kettle and immediately pour over the "tea leaves" will not work here.

If blue tea is to be consumed as usual, then you should use following recipe... The boiled water should stand for two minutes. Then tea petals are poured over it, and after 10 seconds the water is drained. After that, the petals are again poured with boiling water and insisted for 2-3 minutes. You can drink blue tea on its own, or you can drink it with mint or lemon. By the way, lemon changes the color of the tea to purple and gives the drink a peculiar, rather pleasant taste. You can add sugar or honey to blue tea.

You should not be afraid to drain the first water - tea begins to give off color after half a minute, you will not lose anything, and therefore use the advice of those who have been drinking it all their lives

After a minute, the tea acquires a light blue hue. Usually we brew it in a French press, but for a photo and for greater clarity, it was brewed right in a glass - this is also quite convenient and the tea turns out no worse.

At first, I was waiting for a flower fieria, that the flowers were about to open and give me a micro-show, vaguely similar to how knitted teas work - I peered into a glass for a long time, flapped with flowers ...

But no, the top view is just a little straightened flowers. It is a pity, but they do not bloom, and therefore the highlight of the program will be ahead.

This tea has a deep blue color. Have you ever made your bed linen blue? I remember how my mother did this in my blue childhood, and so, the color is just one to one - just as beautiful. But I brewed this glass not for 2-3 minutes, as described, but for about five.

For comparison, two-minute and five-minute tea. When brewing in a French press, we usually make a lot at once, for several glasses, there the tea is brewed and gives a better color, and therefore by the end of the tea-drinking we have it turns blue to black.

Probably everyone has heard about how blue tea changes color? Everyone except me. I just received tea as a gift and decided to make it in the evening. And when the taste did not suit me, I decided to add lemon tea.

"Look! Look! Shaitanama! The tea has become sihen!" - dada, I was surprised, no, I was amazed! What happened to my tea?

I, like any ordinary Russian person, first turn on the device, and then read the instructions, and so it happened with tea: first I tried it, and then only found out what they decided to treat me to. Here I am such a gullible person (well, it was not poison).

Later, after reading a lot of information about this tea, I learned about its unusual properties, and so, if you add milk to tea, it turns blue. And this reminded me more of how in childhood we diluted blue in a water emulsion to paint the walls blue. I have a rich experience of communicating with blue, as it turned out.

I tried to compose all the shades of my tea and this is what I got - well, just a sunset sky, you can even now dip your brush in tea and paint a seascape.

TEA TASTE

Oooh, I saved this information for you for dessert, along with my cottage cheese cookies. Let's go back a little and remember my close childhood friendship with blue. No, no, I haven't tasted it, but I remember the smell. What is he? Almost none ... like the taste of this tea. "What does he look like?" - I asked in bewilderment, trying in between times to find out useful information for the review. "Yes, h / s, no, as if some kind of medicine was mixed." So I couldn't formulate for a long time how I would describe this smell, and after several portions of "blue" I finally decided:

imagine clean blue cotton socks lying on a dusty shelf somewhere in the closet where old herbs were stored for a long time. A few of these blades of grass have adhered to them, and now, you take out one sock, blissfully inhale its fresh, slightly dusty herbaceous smell, dip it in a cup of boiling water, like a tea bag, and then try to persuade yourself that you will lose weight, your hair, nails will grow, and in general the whole life will get better.

If you managed to imagine this - I congratulate you, you have a rich imagination, and you have just tasted this wonderful and unusual tea.

How do I drink it now?

Only with lemon. Yes, undoubtedly, here immediately its property as an antidepressant manifests itself, even when brewing - I just bastard from the process and the color change. Lemon gives the tea some flavor. At work, I usually brew directly in a mug, I take 5-7 flowers for one mug.

TEA PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS

Slimming

Since blue tea contains polyphenols, it promotes the rapid breakdown of fats and stimulates their removal from the body, and generally speeds up all metabolic processes.

As a person on a diet, I can say with confidence: not a single tea, not a single pill, patches or goji berries will help you lose weight if you like to cook cookies, pancakes and casseroles, as I love to do, and even more so, if you love them not only to cook, but also to eat, and to eat like you have two stomachs or tomorrow is a hungry day. Yes, undoubtedly, some plants speed up metabolism, and the use of liquid in the right amount will certainly benefit you, but, alas, no one has yet had a chance to become a slender secret from tea alone.

Well, if you have already decided to include blue tea in your diet (as I am doing now, I'm on a diet), then know when to stop:

Drinking this drink should be moderate, especially if you decide to drink blue tea for weight loss. According to experts, it should be taken no more than 3 cups a day for a week. After that, you need to take a break for 3 weeks and then repeat the course.

If you just drink tea without pursuing any medicinal goals, then after a month of drinking the drink it is better to take a break so that there is no getting used to it.

Well, now a few words about why there are so many benefits and why this tea is considered medicinal.

Blue tea contains a huge amount of beneficial ingredients

  • Vitamin B1 is indispensable for the full functioning of the nervous system and the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Vitamin B2 is important for eye health, it normalizes metabolism, helps the body fight stress and stabilizes the cardiovascular system.
  • Vitamin B3 normalizes blood circulation, promotes the conversion of sugar and fats into energy.
  • Vitamin B12 protects against obesity, strengthens the immune system and prevents the development of depression.
  • Vitamin C strengthens the immune system, helps the body fight free radicals (just like vitamin E), and improves mood.
  • Vitamin K fights the aging process.
  • Vitamin D is important for skin health.
  • Iron improves the structure of nails and hair, makes the skin more beautiful and healthier.
  • Phosphorus is indispensable for brain activity.
  • Manganese normalizes the emotional state and strengthens the immune system.

Vision

Of course, it will not work to restore vision, as well as a figure, but B vitamins are considered very useful for vision. Of course, in addition to blue tea, you can find products that contain them: cottage cheese, pumpkin, nuts, buckwheat, milk, blueberries, blueberries ... So here tea is not a panacea, but an excellent addition to your diet.

Hair

For these purposes, blue tea is recommended to be consumed both internally and to rinse the hair with it. I don’t really want to spend a tea show on my hair - for now I just delight the guests with it, preferring that the hair begins to grow both for me and for the guests from all the benefits that blue tea contains.

To decorate dishes

Oh, these Thais, but they have adapted to boil blue rice with this tea and make blue desserts, such as jelly. I'm not ready for such culinary delights, remembering how in one of the episodes Bridget Jones treated her guests to blue soup, which turned out after an unplanned blue lace got into the pan. Special taste blue tea will not give the dish anyway, but everyone will definitely react to the color with great distrust

Well, a colorful show for you, because the language simply does not turn to wish you bon appetite. I remain a primordially Russian person here, I prefer the impossibly delicious Ivan tea, which I collect myself every summer. Let him not be able to surprise anyone, but the benefits of this simple plant are no less, believe me, and any Thai will envy the aroma of the resulting drink.

I put two for tea and throw in a point for the fact that now I can make any of my soup blue.

Hope to see you again in my other reviews. NS
