White eggs for Easter. Why are eggs painted at Easter? Easter eggs - marble coloring with napkins

Hello friends!

Are you waiting for the bright holiday of the Resurrection of Christ - Easter? I am very, because I fast and limit myself in meat, dairy products and eggs. But this does not prevent me from preparing for the Great Holiday. I have already started studying. And today I found and made a selection about dyeing chicken eggs.

As we already know, our Orthodox Easter falls on Sunday, April 8 this year. One of the ceremonies of the holiday, in addition to Easter cakes and Easter cakes, are painted eggs. This tradition arose a very long time ago, in the time of the first Christians. In addition, there is an opinion that a lot of eggs accumulated in fasting people in villages in chicken coops. Due to the fact that there was nowhere to put them, it became a custom to paint or paint eggs and give them to guests and neighbors on Easter.

Of course, that's how it was. But the egg has long symbolized resurgent life. The most popular dye color is red. This refers to the blood shed by Christ for the people. Therefore, it is very important to paint the eggs in different colors. But how to do it right? Let's find out!

I would also add that it is better to paint with the kids. They really like this thing. And even kids, starting from three years old, are already actively helping adults with might and main.

Basic rules for painting eggs for Easter

Before staining itself, we will read a few tips on how to do it correctly. Then it will help us to avoid some irreparable mistakes. It's better to learn from someone else's mistakes, right?

  • We buy eggs with a white shell. Here it is clear even to kids that the paint fits better on a clean white surface and does not change its color. But brown, when stained, can drastically change their color. Yes, and any paint on them seems dirty.
  • We wash the testicles with a sponge, you can use soapy water.

  • So that the eggs do not burst and crack during cooking, it is better to get them out of the refrigerator 1.5-2 hours ahead of time. During this time they will warm up, become room temperature. Then you can start hot procedures.
  • Salt, which is added to water during boiling, also saves from cracks. It takes 2 tbsp. tablespoons of salt per 2 liters of water.
  • If you are going to paint in onion skins, then collect it several months in advance. The more peel, the brighter the color will be. You can also ask for the husk at any market from a vegetable seller. I don't think they will be greedy. Especially for such a sweet thing as preparing for Easter.
  • To dry already painted testicles, use the paper grates in which they were bought.

It is interesting to know that eggs dyed in one color are called dyes. Artfully painted Easter eggs will be. Drapanki are painted with a scratched pattern. There are also speckles - testicles, painted in speck, with dots and stripes.

  • We rub the painted testicles with vegetable oil. They are shiny, bright and beautiful.

Well, now you can definitely get down to business!

How to color eggs in onion skins so they don't crack

The easiest and most popular way to color for Easter is in onion skins. For this case, use a golden or red onion. The testicles after painting are purple-brown, yellowish and very beautiful.

Another option that saves a lot of time for hostesses. Eggs are boiled and immediately colored in a decoction of the husk.

We need:

  • Pot for 4-5 liters;
  • Eggs - 2 dozen;
  • Onion peel;
  • Vinegar - 1.5 tbsp. spoons;
  • Paper towel or newspaper.

Cooking:

1. Prepare the onion peel. We wash it in running water from dust and dirt. We also take the eggs out of the refrigerator to warm up. They reach room temperature after 1.5-2 hours.

2. We take a capacious pan and put all the onion peels there. They should take up 2/3 of the pan somewhere.

Cooking utensils pick up the old, which is not a pity. Because in the process the pan gets very dirty and it will be almost impossible to wash it.

3. Fill with water so that it covers the entire husk. Pour vinegar 1.5-2 tablespoons. Or maybe 1 teaspoon vinegar essence. Mix the water with a spoon.

4. We wash the warmed testicles with a soft sponge and laundry soap. Carefully lay them down and bury them in the husk.

5. Put the pan on the fire. When the water boils, reduce the heat and cook for 30-40 minutes. For a richer color, you can cook longer.

6. We carefully take out the finished brown eggs with a spoon and put them on the prepared paper towels. Do it carefully so you don't get burned.

7. When they have cooled down, you can rub them with a cotton swab dipped in vegetable oil. You can stick small stickers on an Orthodox theme and put them beautifully in a basket or plate with holes for eggs with Easter cake.

My testicles did not crack and turned out with an even color, and vinegar helped me with this. The most important thing is to observe the temperature; it should be the same before cooking.

That's basically it. Coloring can be complicated and make such masterpieces in the photo below. To do this, you need gauze, thread and green leaves. Parsley, dill, arugula are well suited.

Before laying in the husk, we apply a leaf of greenery to each testicle and wrap it in a small piece of gauze. Tie tightly with a thread so that the gauze tightly presses the leaf to the shell. Then we also lower them into water with husks and cook for 40 minutes.

The shell will be completely colored, except for the place where the leaf was attached. And they turn out very original eggs with green imprint. Beauty and simplicity!

Video on how to dye Easter eggs with dyes

Let's try to do the same. After all, there is nothing complicated.

We put food dry dyes and leaves into action

Let's try to color Easter eggs with commercially available food coloring, and even with leaves. Already above about the method with onion peel, I explained a little how this is done. And here I will reveal the secrets in more detail and with step-by-step photos.

We need:

  • Chicken eggs are white - 2-3 dozen;
  • Food colorings;
  • Vinegar 9%;
  • Gauze,
  • Threads;
  • Scissors;
  • green leaves;
  • Gloves.

Cooking:

1. We warm the chicken eggs to the temperature in the room. We wash them with a dish sponge and soap until clean. Then cook in slightly brackish water for 20-30 minutes in a cauldron.

2. We put jars on the table, where we will dilute the paint. We prepare scissors, pieces of gauze, threads and green leaves.

3. The leaves can be wetted. So they stick to the shell better.

4. Put on disposable gloves. They protect delicate hands from corrosive paint.

5. We dilute the paint in jars with hot water and pour in 1 tablespoon of 9% vinegar. The amount of water is usually indicated on the dye packaging. So follow the clear instructions.

6. We take out the finished boiled eggs from the cauldron and cool a little. We glue a leaf of greenery - dill or parsley. Wrap in a small piece of gauze. And at the back, we tie the ends of the fabric tightly with a thread.

7. The leaf should be pressed very tightly against the shell.

8. Dip the egg in a jar of paint for 10 minutes. You can turn it a little with a spoon for an even color.

9. We take out the finished eggs and put them on a paper egg rack. All excess colored water will drain, and the eggs themselves will dry well and at the same time will not paint each other.

And here are the finished beauties! Parsley and dill leaves are well imprinted. Now they can be rubbed with oil and sent to the holiday basket.

It is interesting to paint Easter eggs with liquid paint

Liquid paint is sold in special tubes. Easter eggs after such staining, they acquire a beautiful, pearlescent and shiny appearance. In fact, there is nothing complicated about this. And how to do it right, watch an interesting video.

Decorate eggs with natural ingredients

The last (or not) way to make krashenki is to use natural products. In fact, it is not at all necessary to buy ready-made paints. You can rummage through your lockers and find a lot of things and products that will beautifully color eggs in even, solid colors.

I also like the option of coloring with natural ingredients because we paint the testicles without any chemicals. So to speak, we get eco-paints.

We paint with turmeric

Regular ground turmeric root will help us achieve an even yellow color.

To do this, prepare the eggs, warm them. Pour 2 tablespoons of turmeric into a small 1.5 liter enameled ladle and put it on the fire.

We lay gently warm eggs and cook them for 15-20 minutes. During this time, they will be well stained in a delicate yellow tone.

We cool the hard-boiled eggs and rub a little with vegetable oil.

We got yellow. Let's move on to blue.

Colored with red cabbage

A nice blue color will help us achieve red cabbage. For coloring, we need to pre-boil clean hard-boiled eggs in a separate bowl.

We cut the head of cabbage into large pieces. We fill cold water and let it cook for 10-15 minutes.

Place hot eggs in bowls. Pour them with strained broth from cabbage and leave for 5-6 hours until a deep color. If desired, you can add vinegar to the broth. It fixes the color.

Dry the krashenki in paper towels or on a paper rack. We rub them with vegetable oil to a shine.

We use beets

Ordinary beets will help us get pink dyes. To do this, boil the eggs in a separate bowl hard boiled.

We clean the beets from the skin and rub about 200 grams per 0.5 liter of water. Fill it with hot water and put hot eggs.

To fix the color, pour in one tablespoon of vinegar. Leave for 50-60 minutes until deep staining.

We take out the dyes, dry them and you can stick different stickers on Easter themes.

Marble color with green

Well, such beauty can be made with the help of brilliant green and cut husks. Both eco-friendly and beautiful. And who asks for the recipe - shh! Don't disclose!

On this, dear readers, I end my writing. If there are other ways of coloring, you can add the material in the comments below. So you share with other readers interesting ways to color Easter eggs.

With the Coming Bright Holiday - the Resurrection of Christ! See you soon!

This year I had a problem with painting Easter eggs. Who is subscribed to my Instagram he has already seen mine black charcoal easter eggs. So I decided to write how I came to such a NIGHTMARE))) Personally, I in no way wanted such eggs! What's more, I got them quite by accident.
I was just blown away by this result! But then my daughter and I decorated them with stickers, and it seems that nothing even began to look. But it's still terrible! Tomorrow I'm going to bless these eggs, I'm afraid that they will kick me out or they will stare at me all the time. Now let me tell you how I got there.

For Easter, I usually always paint 2 types of eggs.: one version of eggs “for food” - I paint with natural dye, the second option “at the cemetery” - with artificial. So, this year I didn’t have onion peel. I thought for a long time how to dye eggs so natural. And I found this in the "Tape" natural dye « home kitchen» from BLACK CARROT:

***
What is black carrot?

Scorzonera (black carrot). Medicinal plant. It contains a large number of inulin, nitrogenous substances - 2%, sugars - 3%, many vitamins. The roots have a vanilla scent.
***
As you can see from the photo on the package, the eggs should have turned out BLUE. But it was not there!

I did everything according to the instructions on the package:

1. First, they cleaned and washed the eggs in soda
2. Then they filled the BLACK CARROT with water, lowered the eggs there and set it to boil. After that, the eggs just became BLUE, it was necessary to leave them like that and not follow the Instructions further. Then everything would be OK!

Looks creepy, right?

3. However ... After all this, the solution was drained, the carrots were thrown away and the eggs had to be left in the resulting solution for 2-3 hours or overnight - for a more intense result.

Thus, we left the eggs alone in a solution of black carrots (I planned to leave them overnight, because I know that the natural dye is not very stable and was afraid that the eggs would not be dyed), and in the meantime, my daughter started painting the eggs with artificial dye different colors.

All this time, the cat was actively watching the process from the window:

These are our eggs dyed with synthetic dye:

Literally an hour later, my curiosity flared up and I decided to see what happens to my eggs in a solution of black carrots ...

And I was dumbfounded - the eggs were BLACK! I immediately decided to take them out, because. it is not known what color they would become in a couple of hours, and what would happen to them overnight - I can’t imagine!

In addition, it was written on the package that the COMPOSITION should be used for coloring no more than 5-6 eggs. I just dyed the first 6 eggs, which are now BLACK. But I didn’t drain the solution, but for the sake of the experiment I decided to throw in 5 more BROWN eggs (which are not recommended for coloring) and now I left them FOR THE NIGHT! Of course, I also boiled these eggs for 5 minutes so that they would boil and the dye would “solder into the shell”.
The result in the morning amazed me again! The eggs were black! One egg can be seen not exactly lying with me - because the top did not stain a lot. However, the eggs are the same BLACK, although the manufacturer promised BLUE!

Re-dyeing eggs with the same dye "Black Carrot":

But: in the "night eggs" from the secondary solution, for some reason, the paint does not pour a lot on the hands of fine dust. And when you take them in your hands, a black coating appears on them and your hands become like “chimney sweep hands”.
Therefore, it is better not to leave such eggs at night, as the manufacturer advises!

CONCLUSIONS: you can’t trust the manufacturer, you need to get to everything experimentally!
And so black carrot - good and very strong dye! Only you need to keep the eggs in it much less than it is written in the instructions. I think 30 minutes would be enough for the eggs to acquire a beautiful blue hue. And with this dye you can color a lot of eggs, and not 5-6 as it is written on the package! 20 pieces, maybe 30 eggs I think)
There are also yellow and red such dyes, next time I will try others, taking into account these nuances!

I don't know what to do with those black eggs. I’ll have to eat it secretly at home and not show it to anyone) It’s dangerous to carry it to the cemetery and give it to friends, it’s still Easter, not Halloween) True, I don’t know how I will hallow them.
Shame and shame)))

Easter in 2018 falls on April 8th. On this day, Orthodox believers will give each other decorated eggs. What the Easter egg symbolizes and where this tradition came from, read in our Q&A section.

Why do we color the Easter egg?

In Christianity, this tradition is a sacred symbol of the sacrament, and it must be observed by every bearer of the faith. In the code of laws of the church from the 13th century, it was said that the hegumen can punish that monk who did not eat a colored egg on Easter Sunday, since in this way he calls into question the apostolic traditions and does not honor the Son of God.

One of the hypotheses for coloring eggs for Easter is associated with Mary Magdalene. So, after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Mary decided to tell this good news to the emperor Tiberius himself. It was impossible to go to the emperor without gifts, but she had nothing, she took a chicken egg with her as a symbolic gift. She chose a chicken egg, as it has always symbolized life, a new stage in development. And when Mary told the emperor that Jesus Christ had risen, the emperor laughed hard and said: "It is as impossible as your white egg turn into red". Immediately after his words, the hen's egg brought by Mary turned red. The red color symbolizes the blood shed on the cross by Jesus.

Another version of egg coloring for Easter says that the Virgin Mary painted eggs to entertain Jesus Christ when he was still a baby.

One of the vital and interesting versions of eating and coloring eggs is very simple. In fasting, believers severely restrict themselves in food, and so that the eggs are not spoiled, they are boiled after a forty-day fast. In order to distinguish a boiled egg from a raw one and not accidentally eat a slightly spoiled one, it was dyed during cooking, while adding a variety of dyes.

Some historians believe that this tradition is not connected with one of the most significant events in Christianity. Scientists associate it with the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius. Before the birth of the great ruler of the Roman Empire, one of the hens laid an egg, the shell of which was dyed with red dots. The inhabitants of Rome considered this incident an omen of great events for the empire.

What does the Easter egg mean?

In Christianity, the Easter egg is a symbol of the Holy Sepulcher, in which eternal life was hidden. In Palestine, the tombs were arranged in caves, and the entrance was closed with a stone, which was rolled off when they were supposed to lay the deceased. Tradition says that the stone with which they closed the tomb of Jesus Christ resembled an egg in shape. We know what lies under the egg shell new life. Therefore, for Christians, the Easter egg is a reminder of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, salvation and eternal life. The red color most often dyed in eggs signifies the suffering and blood of Christ.

What does the color of an egg mean?

red symbolizes eternal life and shed blood in the name of human salvation.

green identifies good health and revival of all living things with the arrival of spring.

brown- a symbol of fertile land and prosperity.

yellow- a sunny shade means wealth, and also protects from dark forces and temptation.

Orange- the absence of longing and despondency, which is a mortal sin.

blue personifies the sky and the abode of angels.

It is customary for Catholics to paint and give eggs for Easter. AT Catholic tradition it is customary to give not only painted chicken eggs but also chocolate.

Mood for 5+ And so I want to create and be weird, so today I want to show how unusual, original, tasteful and super beautiful you can decorate, paint eggs for Easter. Why paint eggs for Easter?

I do not want to write so much information about it. I will not delve into history, to be honest, I never liked history at school, although in vain, of course.

So, that's Why do they paint eggs for Easter? I answer.

At all times, the egg was considered a symbol of the birth, the rebirth of the Sun. The sun carried light and heat. Previously, eggs were presented to the gods, but now we present them to relatives and friends.

They also began to color eggs in ancient Egypt, and the inhabitants of this event were waiting whole year. For them it was a great miracle.

In the Indian Vedas, the god Brahma hatched from a Golden Egg.

It is known that in the East, according to legend, they said that the World originated from Chaos and was in an egg.

In our world, there are legends that say that the egg is a symbol of life.

Easter eggs are one of the main attributes of Christian Easter. According to ancient church tradition, the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene gave the first Easter egg to the Roman Emperor Tiberius. Painted eggs are considered in Christian culture as a symbol of the resurrection of Christ. Russian folk legends tell that at the time of the Resurrection of Christ, the stones on Golgotha turned into red eggs.

How to paint eggs with your own hands?

Of course, no one will argue with the fact that Easter eggs are decoration. holiday table in the days of Easter. The stores now have a very large variety of all sorts of interesting things for decorating eggs, these are stickers, dyes, decoupage materials and much more.

The main thing is that the decorated eggs turn out to be cheerful, not sad, that is, they should be executed in bright, sunny colors.

The presence of red is obligatory according to old Russian traditions, and the rest is your fantasy, imagination and creativity to help you.

There are several rules for painting eggs:

  • Eggs must be degreased and rinsed before painting or decorating. This is done with the help of laundry soap (washing) and alcohol (degreasing).
  • Eggs are not cooked immediately, that is, you cannot take them out of the refrigerator and put them immediately into boiling water. Take out the eggs and let them lie warm for a while. Then there will be no large temperature difference and the shell will not crack during cooking!
  • Boil the eggs by adding salt to the water, about 1 tbsp. for 1.5 cups of water.
  • In order for the eggs to shine after coloring, you need to dry them well and then with the help of vegetable oil grease a little, remove excess oil with a cloth.

Coloring and decorating eggs for Easter

In this article, I want to teach you how to decorate, paint eggs in various interesting ways. And there are many ways to paint. Choose which one suits you and experiment. You will succeed. 🙂

Decorating eggs with wax crayons

This method is very easy and not very costly from the financial side.

We will need:

  • white eggs, food coloring, warm water, 9% vinegar, wax crayons

Stages of work:

1. Dilute the dyes according to the instructions on the package.

2. Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 250 ml of water.

3. Mix the vinegar and dye well.

4. Boil the eggs, but do not drain the water, because this method requires hot eggs.

5. Take the egg and soak it with a napkin.

6. Take pencils and paint the egg.

7. Dip the painted egg in the dye for 1 minute.

8. Remove the egg after the time has elapsed and dry on a stand. The stand can be made from foam and toothpicks. You can take a sponge for washing dishes and stick needles with beads into it, you will also get a good stand for drying eggs.

Decoupage of Easter eggs from a napkin

We will need:

  • white eggs, patterned napkins, egg white and brush

1. Take a raw egg and separate the protein from it. Beat the egg white a little to make it thick. Many write that you can use PVA glue instead of protein, but it seems to me that this is not safe. Get your paper napkins ready.

2. Take a napkin and separate the topmost layer, which is with a pattern.

3. Now cut out from the napkins those elements that you want to reprint on your egg.

4. These are the elements turned out.

Jelly Easter Eggs

When I was preparing for this article, I saw such an amazing video on how to make unusual eggs from jelly. In the video, a child is filmed, very mischievous and cheerful. It turns out such a bright, sunny clearing of multi-colored shiny eggs.

In addition, who loves fun, or surprises relatives or friends, this idea is great to have fun with such eggs. To do this, you do not need to remove the shell from such eggs, just decorate the shell in any way. And it will turn out like just an Easter egg, but in fact, when they start cleaning they will see a surprise. Play your guests for Easter, none of the guests will remain indifferent. How many laughter and smiles!

Watch and see for yourself.

Such testicles (eggs) from jelly can be created with the child, as shown in this video. After all, the joint work of the child and mother is very uniting, bringing together. And most importantly, the child will be delighted.

If you have a desire, then you can decorate eggs with your child and make some funny souvenirs for Easter, about this I wrote another article on this topic:

Friends, I want to wish you all the best, peace, prosperity, kindness! May it always be warm, light in your life, life will be without illness and adversity! If you wish all this on the eve or day of Easter, and eat a couple of painted Easter eggs, then everything will certainly come true!

Good health to all! Happy New Year Happy Easter! Christ is Risen!!!

P.S By the way, Easter eggs can be left until next year, and then used in treatment various diseases, getting rid of the evil eye and damage. I never knew about it. This year, I will definitely leave one, the most unusual, beautiful egg untouched. Let it lie until next Easter, there will be such an interesting tradition in our family.
