Liquid stevia. Stevia Liquid Extract

Stevia (otherwise - honey herb) is not without reason becoming more and more popular lately. After all, this is not only a worthy, but also a much more useful replacement for the usual and far from harmless sugar. Whenever a low-calorie, low-carb diet is required, this natural sweetener is simply irreplaceable. Of the wide range of sweeteners produced on the basis of honey grass, liquid stevia is a very convenient option to use.

A few words about the benefits of stevia

In addition to the phenomenal (30 times higher than sugar) sweetness, honey grass has many more useful and necessary substances for the human body. There are about fifty of them in total: these are vitamins, and trace elements, and minerals, and so on.

By replacing sugar with stevia, there is no need to deny yourself the much-loved taste of sweets. And, what is especially nice, you can also recharge your health. After all, sweeteners (liquid stevia extract, in particular) have the following very useful properties:

  • they contain absolutely no calories;
  • their glycemic index is zero;
  • they improve carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism, lower blood glucose and blood pressure, remove cholesterol, promote weight loss;
  • restore the normal functioning of the liver, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract;
  • increase immunity;
  • have antifungal, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects.

The origins of unique sweetness

A group of substances called steviosides gives exceptional sweetness to the leaves of honey grass. These are diterpene glycosides with a common aglycone - steviol. These sweet substances are isolated from the plant by the extraction method and are 300 times ahead of sugar in terms of sweetness.

Forms of issue

In the products offered by our company, the stevia liquid extract is a stevioside with a steviol glycoside content of 95%, diluted with distilled water. It is bottled in glass bottles equipped with a pipette for ease of use, or in plastic bottles of 30 grams each. In order to sweeten a glass of any drink, liquid stevia will take a few drops - only 4-5 pieces. One bottle contains 730 drops of liquid sweetener.

There is a "basic" option - liquid stevia with a natural taste. It is perfect for baking, for sweetening yoghurts, curds and cereals. Moreover, it can be added to both hot and cold dishes and desserts.

Fruit lovers are offered liquid stevia with a variety of flavors: raspberries, strawberries, grapes, lemon. Fans of mint, vanilla or chocolate won't be left without a beneficial sweetener, too.

I ordered on this site for the first time.

Within 20 minutes after ordering, the manager called me back, everything was agreed. Delivery of SDEK, after 4 days I received my parcel. So for the service and fast delivery to this site, definitely 10/10

    Now about stevioside itself.

In general, I was satisfied with its quality and cost. It has a very economical consumption and a rather pleasant taste.

I always try to make profitable purchases - optimal in terms of price and quality, and comparing manufacturers, I realized that "I am Stevia" is, if not the most profitable, then clearly one of the most optimal.

Taste. I cannot say that the bitter taste is completely absent - it is, but it is not as intrusive as in the sweeteners that I tried before, despite the fact that they cost many times more. This is if we talk about its pure taste.

When cooking, this taste is less noticeable, and perhaps even those who do not know will not notice the difference between it and regular sugar. The closest thing to sugar, in my opinion, is the taste of erythritol, but its cost is completely different if we take into account the coefficient of sweetness.

As for the sweetness 100 times higher than the sweetness of sugar, it is a moot point, but "Crystal" is really very sweet, and the consumption will be very economical.

Summing up, I want to express my gratitude to the company "Ya Stevia" for quality product, and fast delivery, to the manager Svetlana for efficiency and politeness. I have no complaints, I am satisfied with your work and product quality. Thanks!

The problem of fighting overweight worries many people around the world and is moving from the category of an aesthetic defect to a serious disease that requires medical intervention. One of the means of dealing with the unfortunate kilograms is the use of the drug "Stevia" instead of regular sugar.

What is harmful to sugar and how can it be replaced?

Scientists agree that sugar can destroy the human body and cause many dangerous diseases, including diabetes, metabolic disorders and, as a result, obesity. The average daily intake of sugar per person is no more than 50 grams, taking into account all sources - tea, juices, sweets, buns, chocolate and the like. Unfortunately, people are so addicted to sweets that they violate this norm several times. In Russia, the average consumption of this product per person exceeds 90 grams, and in the USA - over 150 grams. As a result of the effect of sugar, the functions of the insular apparatus of the pancreas are disrupted. In addition, sucrose destroys connective tissues, bones, teeth, blood vessels in the human body, which leads to the appearance of diseases such as caries, heart attack, hypertension, stroke, hyperglycemia. Since this substance belongs to carbohydrates, when broken down, it turns into fat, and with its excess, subcutaneous deposits are formed. The peculiarity of this product is that it becomes a kind of drug for people, since when it is used, hormones of joy - endorphins are produced, and you want something sweet again and again. That is why people began to look for a way out of the situation and develop substances that would replace this product. In particular, a stevia-based sweetener was developed.

China is the largest exporter of this herb. Stevia is 10-15 times sweeter than sucrose. This is due to its unusual composition, which includes diterpene glycosides, including stevioside, rebuadiosides. These substances have a stable sweet taste which lasts much longer than sucrose. In addition, they have an antibacterial effect. The sweetener is extracted from the leaves of honey grass by the method of extraction, and as a result, a suitable for use in the form of powder "Stevia" (sweetener) is obtained. Photos allow you to see what the plant looks like before and after processing.

Side effects

The studies carried out made it possible to establish that when taking the natural sweetener "Stevia" there are no side effects and negative effects on the human body, provided that the dosage is observed even with prolonged use, in contrast to synthetic sweeteners. If the dosage is violated, heart palpitations may also occur. It is not recommended to use sugar substitutes for diabetics in conjunction with additional drugs to lower sugar levels.

Sweetener "Stevia": harm or benefit?

There is a lot of controversy in the world community over the replacement of conventional sweets with stevia. Opponents of "Stevia" argue that for the stevioside, which is part of the sweetener, the human body does not have enzymes to break down, so it removes the substance unchanged. In the intestine, this element breaks down into steviol and glucose. It is believed that steviol is similar in its properties to therefore it can cause hormonal imbalance, reduce sexual activity. However, studies carried out on chickens, which were given a solution of stevia at a concentration of 5 grams per 100 milliliters instead of water, showed that the sweetener does not cause reproductive impairment. And also those consumers who have already tried the Stevia sweetener agree with this. Reviews about him confirm that there are no violations in the genital area.

Buyers' opinion

Those who have already used the sweetener leave ambiguous. So, some buyers note that the drug has a pleasant taste. Others argue that it can be slightly bitter, which is not usual after consuming regular sugar. Consumers use "Stevia" not only as an additive in drinks, but also in homemade preparations for the winter, in baked goods, and jam. However, there are difficulties with the correct dosage, you have to use the table for a more accurate calculation.

Stevia is made from the medicinal plant of the same name, which has numerous health benefits and is considered the sweetest herb in the world. It contains a unique molecular component called stevioside, which gives the plant an extraordinary sweetness.

Also, stevia is popularly called honey herb. All this time, the medicinal herb has been used to normalize blood glucose levels in humans and prevent diabetes mellitus. Today, stevia has gained not only popularity, but also widespread use in Food Industry.

Features of the sweetener Stevia

Stevia is fifteen times sweeter than regular refined sugar, and the extract itself, which contains stevioside, can be 100-300 times sweeter than the level of sweetness. This feature is used by science in order to create a natural sweetener.

However, this is not the only thing that makes the natural sweetener ideal for diabetics. Most sweeteners made from natural and synthetic ingredients have significant disadvantages.

  • The main disadvantage of many sweeteners is high calorie content a product that is harmful to health. Stevia, having stevioside in its composition, is considered a non-nutritive sweetener.
  • Many low-calorie synthetic sweeteners have an uncomfortable characteristic. By altering the metabolism of sugar in the blood, a significant increase in body weight occurs. The natural substitute Stevia does not have such disadvantages, unlike its counterparts. Studies have shown that stevioside does not affect glucose metabolism, but even, on the contrary, reduces human blood sugar levels.

The sweetener in some cases has a pronounced taste of watering cans. However, today there are sweeteners that use stevioside extract.

Stevioside is tasteless, widely used in the food industry, is available as a food supplement and is referred to as E960. You can buy a similar sweetener in the pharmacy in the form of small brown tablets.

The benefits and harms of the stevia sweetener

The natural substitute Stevia is widely used today in most countries and has excellent reviews. The sweetener has gained especially wide popularity in Japan, where Stevia has been used for more than thirty years, and during this time no side effects have been identified. Scientists of the sunny country have proved that the sugar substitute does not harm human health. At the same time, Stevia is used here not only as an additive to food, but is also added instead of sugar to diet drinks.

Meanwhile, in such countries, the US, Canada and the EU do not officially recognize the sweetener as a sweetener. Here Stevia is sold as biodegradable active additives... The sweetener is not used in the food industry, despite the fact that it does not harm human health. The main reason for this is the lack of research that confirms the safety of Stevia as a natural sweetener. At the same time, these countries are primarily interested in the sale of synthetic low-calorie substitutes, around which, despite the proven harm of these products, a lot of money is spinning.

The Japanese, in turn, have proven with their studies that Stevia does not harm human health. Experts say that today there are few sweeteners with such low toxicity rates. Stevioside extract has been extensively tested for toxicity, and all studies have shown no adverse effects on the body. As the reviews show, the drug does not harm the digestive system, does not increase body weight, does not change cells and chromosomes.

Stevioside has antibacterial functions, therefore it can be used in the treatment of small wounds in the form of burns, scratches and bruises. It promotes rapid wound healing, rapid blood clotting and infection. Often, stevioside extract is used in the treatment of acne, fungal infections. Stevioside helps babies to get rid of pain when their first teeth erupt, which is confirmed by numerous reviews.

Stevia is used to prevent colds, strengthens the immune system, and is an excellent remedy for the treatment of sick teeth. The stevioside extract is used to prepare Stevia tincture, which is mixed with an antiseptic decoction of calendula and horseradish tincture in accordance with 1 to 1. The resulting drug is rinsed in the mouth to relieve pain and possible suppuration.

Also, Stevia, in addition to stevioside extract, contains useful minerals, antioxidants, vitamins A, E and C, essential oils.

With prolonged use of dietary supplements, vitamin complexes, significant consumption of fruits and vegetables, hypervitaminosis or an excess of vitamins in the body may occur. If a rash has formed on the skin, peeling has begun, it is necessary to seek the advice of a doctor.

Sometimes Stevia may not be tolerated by some people due to the individual characteristics of the body. Including the sweetener is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. And yet, there is simply the most real and natural, which is considered the best sugar substitute.

Healthy people do not need to use Stevia as a primary food supplement. Due to the abundance of sweets in the body, insulin is released. If this condition is maintained continuously, the sensitivity to the increase in sugar in the body may decrease. The main thing in this case is to adhere to the norm and not overdo it with a sweetener.

Uses of Stevia in Food

The natural sweetener has received positive reviews and is widely used in fruit drinks and salads, where you want to sweeten the taste. Stevia is added to jam instead of sugar, used in bakery products when baking.

In some cases, stevioside can taste bitter. This is primarily due to the excess Stevia added to the product. To get rid of the bitter taste, you need to use less sweetener in your meals. Also, some species of the stevia plant have a bitter taste.

To reduce body weight, beverages with the addition of stevioside extract are used, which are drunk on the eve of lunch and dinner in order to reduce appetite and eat less food. Also, drinks with a sweetener can be consumed after meals, half an hour after meals.

When losing weight, many use next recipe... In the morning, it is necessary to drink a portion of mate tea with the addition of Stevia on an empty stomach, after which you can not eat for about four hours. During lunch and dinner, it is necessary to eat exceptionally healthy and natural food without flavors, preservatives and white flour.

Stevia and diabetes

Ten years ago, the sweetener Stevia was recognized as safe for human health and the health care system approved the use of the sweetener in food. Stevioside extract has also been recommended as a sugar substitute for people with type 2 diabetes. Including the sweetener is very useful for hypertensive patients.

Studies have shown that Stevia improves the effects of insulin, affects the metabolism of lipids and carbohydrates. In this regard, the sweetener is excellent option sugar substitutes for diabetics, like.

When using Stevia, it is important to make sure that the product you purchased does not contain sugar or fructose. It is necessary to use bread units to accurately calculate the required dose of sweet. It must be remembered that even a natural sugar substitute, if overused and misused, can harm human health and increase blood glucose levels.

Purchase of a sweetener

You can buy a natural Stevia substitute today at any pharmacy or online store. The sweetener is sold as a stevioside extract in powder, liquid, or dried leaves of a medicinal plant.

White powder is added to tea and other types of liquids. However, some disadvantage is long dissolution in water, so it is necessary to constantly stir the drink.

Stevia ("honey grass") is that rare sweetener that you can safely replace sugar with if you decide to lose weight or just carry on healthy image life.

Stevia has zero calories and a very low glycemic index (a measure of the effect on blood glucose).

Stevia is not only safe (confirmed by the World Health Organization in 2006), but also beneficial.

Stevia slows down the aging process in cells, has an antiseptic and antifungal effect on the body, normalizes the functioning of the nervous, cardiovascular and digestive systems.

NOW has 6 varieties of Stevia. They differ in form of release, additional ingredients and, of course, price. In brackets, I indicated the price based on 30 servings.

LIQUID ON GLYCERINE

60 ml - 375 servings - $ 6.06 (0.48)
237 ml - 1,481 servings - $ 17.54 (0.36)

PACKED ON MALTODEXTRIN

Externally, this option can be distinguished by the beige / yellow-orange box design.

45 sachets / serving - $ 3.23 (2.15)
75 French Vanilla Sachets / Serving - $ 6.74 (2.70)
100 sachets / serving - $ 6.06 (1.82)

What can be confusing about glycerin, alcohol, maltodextrin? For a healthy person, these components are not dangerous.

But for patients with diabetes mellitus - theoretically they can. Since they have a high glycemic index. But the amount of these substances in a portion is so negligible that - it seems to me - their presence can be safely ignored.

This idea is confirmed by the fact that Ayherb has special dietary supplements for diabetics, where glycerin and maltodextrin, as in stevia, are additional ingredients of the preparations. But if you still don't like their presence, take a look at three other stevia options.

PACKED ON INULIN

The boxes with this stevia are decorated in a turquoise / blue design

35 sachets / serving - $ 3.23 (2.77)
75 sachets / serving - $ 6.06 (2.42)

This is the purest (contains no other ingredients) and most economical stevia.

STEVIA IN TABLETS

SO THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION WHICH STEVIA IS THE MOST ADVANTAGEOUS SHOULD SOUND AS:

1st place (most profitable) - powdered stevia in a jar. The larger the jar, the more profitable.

2nd place - liquid stevia (alcohol is cheaper than glycerin).

3rd place - stevia tablets.

4th place - packaged stevia.

WHICH STEVIA IS THE MOST CONVENIENT TO USE?

My favorite is Liquid Stevia. Before use, the bottle must be shaken and - by pressing on the soft plastic walls -squeeze out a few drops... It is the liquid version that is most convenient to take on the road. Because the bags - which seem to be meant for travel - are too much stevia for me at one time. Half of it remains, the edge of the bag has to be wrapped and make sure that the powder does not spill out of it. In addition, it is liquid stevia that is more convenient to add to cold food - it dissolves best.

WHAT IS THE MOST DELICIOUS STEVIA?

It is clear that the question of taste is an individual question. All options seem to me to be about the same. In any case, stevia will take some getting used to at first. At first, its sweetness may seem as if separated from the taste of the drink itself.

Just in case, let me remind you that the benefits of fructose, honey, cane sugar and other supposedly safe alternatives to sugar are really nothing more than a myth.

Stevia herb is also called "honey grass" in another way. Both the leaves and the stems of the plant have a pronounced sweetness. A natural sweetener is prepared on the basis of stevia, given that the green mass is 300 times more sweet than ordinary sugar.

Under production conditions, a sugar substitute is prepared in the form of dried leaves powder, bleached granular Stevioside or liquid extract. To know exactly how much stevia to use instead of sugar in your usual recipes, we suggest you read the table.

Syrup and liquid extract can be prepared from both fresh leaves and dried raw materials.

Stevia is a very thermophilic perennial plant. It can be grown on your site in a seedling way. At the same time, stevia must be dug up for the winter and determined in a cool place in the room. It is advisable to collect fresh herbs during the flowering period. At this time, foliage synthesizes with maximum power such sweet glycosides as stevioside and rebaudioside. Before use, stevia is washed, dried on napkins, and then cut in any way.

If it is not possible to grow stevia on your own, then dried raw materials can also be used to prepare a natural sweetener. Dried stevia herb or stevia powder can be purchased from drugstore chains or herbal stores.

Preparing stevia liquid extract

On vodka

The most popular is the method of preparing stevia extract using ethyl alcohol. This is due to the fact that alcohol better than water pulls the sweetness out of the leaves, and the finished product can be stored longer.

To prepare the extract, take one liter of vodka and herbs. If fresh grass is used, then it will need one bunch, weighing about 300 grams. The dried product for a given volume of liquid requires 150 grams.

Place stevia in a clean glass container and fill it with vodka. To make the herb evenly distributed in the liquid, shake the jar several times. From above, the container is tightly closed with a lid and removed to a dark place for two days. Exceeding the infusion time can make the extract bitter. After the allotted time, the infusion is filtered through several layers of gauze.

It remains to get rid of alcohol. To do this, the finished extract is poured into a saucepan and heated over a minimum heat for a quarter of an hour. An important condition: the mass should not boil!

During the "evaporation" procedure, the extract may slightly discolor and thicken. Precipitation is also quite normal. Before filling the liquid into bottles, filter it again.

Store the finished product in the refrigerator for six months.

On the water

This option is less popular, but it also has a right to exist. You can also use dry herb or shredded fresh leaves to prepare the water extract.

For 1 liter of liquid, you need 100 grams of dry leaves or 250 grams of fresh stevia. Raw materials are poured with boiling water, loosely covered with a lid and left to infuse at room temperature for 24 hours.

The finished extract is filtered and poured into clean storage containers. Such an extract is stored for a relatively short time. You need to use it within 10 days.

Halle Cottis in his video shows in detail how to make your own liquid stevia extract

How to make stevia syrup

The syrup, in comparison with the liquid extract, can be stored for as long as possible - up to 1.5 years. This does not require special conditions: even at room temperature, stevia syrup retains all its properties.

Any liquid extract is used to prepare the syrup. It does not matter in what way the glycosides were extracted, alcoholic or aqueous.

The sweet extract is poured into an enamel pot and placed over low heat. The main goal: to evaporate the liquid without letting it boil. For this, the container with food must be constantly monitored. The total evaporation time is 4 to 6 hours. As soon as the syrup begins to flow smoothly from the spoon in a thin stream, the fire is turned off, and the finished product is packaged in bottles.
