Making sparkling water at home. Delicious sparkling water: simple recipes

Every mother has probably come across more than once requests from her child to buy a jar of a bright carbonated drink. It's so tasty and fun when the bubbles tickle your tongue. But what is contained in these bottles is even scary to imagine. Isn't it better to just learn how to make a soda at home and pamper your child with it?

The Fizzy Theory

Before trying to make soda water at home, you need to understand its composition. What are the usual for us "Fanta", "Sprite" or "Baikal" drink made of? If you exclude from the list all the substances with the terrible prefix "E" - preservatives, dyes, flavor enhancers and carcinogens, then there are not so many ingredients left: ordinary filtered water and carbon dioxide. The latter is just responsible for creating the pop. CO2 does not dissolve and does not sink in water; moreover, it is able to impart a characteristic sour taste to the drink.

It was on this principle of operation that the notorious soda water machines were built in the Soviet Union. Remember these remarkable devices, where you could buy a glass of mineral water or water with syrup for only 3 kopecks? Inside these machines was a regular carbon dioxide cylinder.

Today, you can prepare an effervescent drink using stationary home devices - siphons. They are built from three components: a plastic body, a CO2 bottle and a water tank. You pour ordinary filtered water into a bottle, screw it into the device, press the start - and the mineral water with gas is ready! Surprisingly, the number of bubbles is also controlled by you.

But even if you do not have such a device, and it is a pity to spend money on its purchase, do not worry - there are several options for making a carbonated drink. And they will be discussed further.

The first and most affordable option is to make a pop using a chemical reaction of vinegar and soda. By the way, in this way, folk craftsmen make flying balls at home, which in the store version are filled with helium. Although, in truth, before enjoying a carbonated drink, you will have to work a little, or even call on your husband for help.

Composition and required materials:

  • 2 plastic bottles with a lid;
  • transparent tube;
  • scissors;
  • paper towels;
  • vinegar;
  • baking soda;
  • some water;
  • drill.

Description of the cooking process:

  • Use a drill to make holes in the center of each lid for the tube.

  • Take a tube and cut off the ends on each side at an angle to make it easier to slide into the bottle.

  • Holding the end of the tube, carefully slide it into the hole in the lid. Dip one end a few centimeters into the bottle, the other almost to the very bottom.

  • Pour the drink you want to carbonate into one of the bottles. Fill the second container 1/3 full with vinegar.

  • Tear off a piece of paper towel and place 1 tbsp. l. soda. Wrap the paper in an envelope and put it in a bottle of vinegar.

  • Screw the caps tightly on both bottles and wait for the reaction to end.

  • Then the bottle of vinegar can be thrown away, and the carbonated drink can be poured into a glass and enjoy its taste.

This world famous drink, contrary to popular belief, was not invented in the United States at all, but in Germany during the war period. Then, due to the embargo imposed by Hitler, the import of syrup for the preparation of "Coca-Cola" became impossible and the chemical scientist Max Keith came up with a new drink, which consisted of apple waste and whey. Time has passed, technologies have changed, and today "Fanta" is supplied to customers with orange flavor.

If your kids are very fond of such a treat, we suggest pampering them a little. You will learn how to make an orange pop at home in the recipe below.

Compound:

  • 3 oranges;
  • 100 g sugar;
  • 1.5 liters of water;
  • a pack of yeast for cider or champagne.

Preparation:

  • Prepare all the ingredients you need in advance, plus a small enamel saucepan.

  • On a fine grater, remove the zest from one orange and add it to the other ingredients in a saucepan.

  • Boil a thick syrup from the resulting mixture over low heat and cool it.
  • Squeeze the juice from the remaining oranges into a glass and strain the finished cooled sugar syrup there.

  • Fill a 2 liter bottle with clean filtered water so that it is about 2/3 full.
  • Pour the cider yeast into the bottle in a thin stream. You can buy these in the culinary departments.

  • Now add the sugar syrup mixed with orange juice there.

  • Close the lid and shake the bottle vigorously. Leave the container to infuse at room temperature for 12 to 48 hours.
  • After the specified time, the drink can be slightly cooled and poured into glasses, garnished with an orange slice.

Sour drink

And in the last recipe, you'll learn how to make a soda and citric acid soda. This method is as easy as making a vinegar and soda drink. But its plus is that you do not need male help, since all actions are quite simple. Let's get started?

Now that you know how to make soda at home, you can do your own experiments. The main thing is that all the options are quite simple, and the ingredients for the recipes are available. So homemade soda will cost you no more than the store version, but it will be much more useful. Enjoy soda and be healthy!

They first learned about soda in the second half of the 19th century. She liked it very much and has not left store shelves since that time. In the last century, carbonated water was called soda and was purchased from vending machines. Today it is easy to buy it at any store. But not everyone knows that making soda at home is also not difficult. Preparation will take a few minutes, and as a result, you can get more than one liter of a thirst-quenching drink.

How to make soda from regular water?

There are several absolutely not complicated ways for this. So, to prepare a drink, you will need to take mineral water and mix it with soda and citric acid.

Method number 1

Ingredients:

It is also easy to make soda in other ways at home.

This recipe works well for making large soda pops.

Cooking method:

Method number 2

This method is for those who want to learn how to make a liter of sparkling water by adding vinegar to the composition.

Ingredients:

Cooking method:

  1. When all the ingredients are prepared, pour liquid into the 1st container and lower the tube into it. Close the lid tightly. Pour soda and vinegar into the second bottle. We seal like the first bottle.
  2. Install the tube for the transition of carbon dioxide at the top. Shake the liquid in bottles for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Thus, at home, carbon dioxide is released and saturates the liquid, making it carbonated. After preparation, it is advisable to cool the drink. Remember, this drink is best thirst quencher when drunk cold.

Method number 3

An interesting way to make a carbonated drink at home would be a method using ready-made carbon dioxide.

Ingredients:

Cooking method:

  1. the siphon container is filled with liquid (preferably cooled - for effective saturation with carbon dioxide) and tightly closed;
  2. a carbon dioxide cylinder is connected to the charging;
  3. the valve is unscrewed. When all the carbon dioxide has already entered the siphon, unscrew the cylinder and close;
  4. soda is ready!

Method number 4

At home, you can also make a carbonated drink by fermentation.

Ingredients:

  • about 4 liters of chilled and a glass of warm water;
  • half a glass of sugar;
  • a tablespoon of yeast. In the same case, if there is no bread yeast at hand, you can use beer yeast, but with a lower dosage - on the tip of a teaspoon;
  • you can add a teaspoon of natural flavor to taste.

It can be a concentrated liquid: fruit drink, lemonade, etc., or herbs: tarragon or mint.

Cooking method:

For those who want to experiment and get a store-bought taste of the drink, we recommend adding lemonade, uzvar, fruit drink, or any kind of juice. You can achieve the effect and flavors.

However, not everyone can drink the carbonated liquid. Therefore, it is rational to find out how to make still water from carbonated water?

There are 2 main ways to get still water:

  • shake and leave open in a warm place;
  • to pass a stream of oxygen (pure nitrogen) through the liquid - this "blows out" the carbon dioxide.

It is absolutely not difficult to do both manipulations. Carbonated water can be natural or artificial. Let's say right away that naturally saturated is a very rare phenomenon.

But we all know how delicious it is! So try the above methods and pick your favorite!

The other day I thought, but homemade soda is real. It's summer now, it's hot and I'm thirsty and thirsty, so it was decided to make homemade soda with my own hands at home. I already feel the sarcastic smiles of some and their thoughts that soda is easier to buy in the store. I agree, but since the site is called "How to do it yourself" we try to do it ourselves.

I already told you how to make bread kvass at home which quenches thirst well, but takes 24 hours to cook

Homemade soda is quicker and you can make it according to your own recipes and taste.

First, a little theory and history. Soda water is very easy to make. To do this, it is necessary to add carbon dioxide CO2 to the water.

Its main properties are: colorless, odorless, does not burn, is heavier than air, dissolves in water and has a sour taste.

Those who have found the Soviet era, and the machines with soda on the streets, remember them with great warmth. They contained a large cylinder of carbon dioxide, and the gas was dissolved under pressure in water.

There is also a way to make homemade soda with a siphon and carbon dioxide cans. These siphons are sold now, but they cost a lot. As you can see, making soda at home requires water and carbon dioxide. There are no problems with water, but where to get carbon dioxide?

How to make your own homemade soda

Carbon dioxide can be made from what can always be found in the kitchen. These are baking soda and vinegar. When they are mixed, carbon dioxide, water and salt are obtained. If you know how to cook, then you know that in some recipes it is customary to extinguish soda with vinegar and it is carbon dioxide that makes the dough soft and porous when baked.

Therefore, to make homemade soda, we prepare:

  • Baking soda - 2 teaspoons
  • Vinegar 9% - 7 tablespoons
  • Plastic bottles -2 pcs (preferably dark beer bottles)
  • Water - 1 - 1.2 liters per 1.5 bottle
  • PVC tube - 1 meter
  • Bottle caps - 2 pcs with tube holes

The tube is cambric, he took from the television cable.

The tube must fit snugly in the caps and must not allow gas to pass through these places. To do this, we make holes in the lids less than the diameter of the tube and pull it in with force.

This bottle will contain water for your homemade soda. And in another container we will mix vinegar with soda. In order for the reaction to be with some delay, we wrap the soda in a paper napkin and add it to the bottle with vinegar. Therefore, before the gas evolution starts, we will have time to close the lid and not lose some of the carbon dioxide.

In the photo above, I used a cellophane bag instead of a napkin, pouring baking soda through the funnel and cutting off the top.

While mixing carbon dioxide and water, the water bottle should be shaken well for 3-4 minutes. I have too much water in my photo for homemade soda, note that less is needed.

Thus, I managed to make soda water or homemade soda mildly carbonated with my own hands.

because

I'd like to warn you about safety precautions.

It is better to use dark bottles, without scratches, they can withstand more pressure than light ones. In no case, when repeating, do not increase number soda and vinegar. If too much gas is used, the bottle may explode with a strong pop and damage the eardrums, fingers and eyes. This is well described in the video using liquid nitrogen as an example.

Over time, I think, it will be possible to improve the recipe for making homemade soda with your own hands, making it easier and safer, but this requires devices and experiments, so for now I am publishing this slightly carbonated method.

How to carbonate water at home?

For carbonation, unscrupulous manufacturers can add ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and other gases to drinks. This mixture enhances the taste and tonic properties of the drinks and is addictive to them.

It contains no minerals and vitamins, but it contains a lot of acids that flush calcium out of bones and tissues. Regular consumption of such drinks causes harm to the digestive tract, and the entire body as a whole.

Is there a benefit?

But natural soda mineral waters, containing a large amount of hydrocarbonate, and carbonated by nature itself, are useful to humans. Their chemical composition has been well studied, indications and contraindications have been identified and determined.

For example, sparkling mineral water "Narzan" is useful for both children and pregnant women. "Narzan" cleanses the body of toxins and toxins, removes acetone, free radicals, and other harmful substances. But even this water cannot be drunk without measure, otherwise, instead of benefit, you can get harm.

What do you need

In order to make soda at home, you will need: - a carbon dioxide bottle; - a siphon for carbonating water; - dry ice or regular ice cubes; - a cooler with a carbonation function; - lemon juice or syrup; - rosehip infusion or any berry / fruit juice; - a little soda; - sugar and citric acid.

How to make soda with a siphon or cooler

Soda the water using an old siphon. The water in it turns into a fizzy due to the flow of carbon dioxide into it under pressure. In old siphons, this process takes about 20-30 minutes. If you have kept the device since Soviet times, purchase a gas canister from a gun store. Consult the seller first: as a rule, such cans fit Soviet siphons for soda.

Get a modern siphon. Simpler devices carbonate the water for 20 minutes. Devices for carbonating water differ in different degrees of carbonation, and a set of syrups can also be attached to them. If you wish, you can also purchase different flavored syrups for carbonating your water. The principle of operation of modern siphons is very simple. Pour plain cold water into the bottle and place it in the machine. Make it sparkling with a light press of the lever or button. Add syrup and stir. The soda is ready!

Instead of syrup, you can add jam or fruit and berry juice to the finished drink

You can make lemonade based on ready-made soda. To do this, dissolve 1 tbsp in 50 g of lemon juice. sugar (based on 1/2 liter of water). Pour the resulting syrup into a fizzy drink and then add a piece of ice. You can also chill soda in the refrigerator. You can also make a soda with rosehip infusion. This drink is distinguished by lush foam and original taste. And besides, it is useful.

Alternatively, instead of a siphon, you can use a water cooler with a carbonation function. With it, ordinary tap water quickly turns into a real soda. But such a device is quite expensive. In addition, this unit will purify water, heat it or cool it. As a rule, the gas cylinder included in its kit lasts for a long time.

How to make a simple soda or lemonade

Make a simple soda. To do this, mix 2.5 grams of citric acid and soda in one glass of water, add 5 grams of sugar and a small amount of syrup. Instead of citric acid, soda and sugar can be mixed in 200 grams of a mixture of water and lemon juice (in a 2: 1 ratio). When the alkali reacts with the acid and the first gas bubbles appear, put an ice cube in a glass and drink the prepared lemonade.
