If you want to please your family with something tasty and original, you can make delicious boats from dough stuffed with meat, potatoes and pickles. This is a great dish for breakfast or dinner.

To prepare boats, use ready-made puff yeast-free dough. This dough can be purchased in advance and stored in the freezer. I, for one, do just that.

So, to prepare this original dish, we need the following products:
0.5 kg of puff yeast-free dough,
0.3 kg of pork pulp,
one large onion,
four medium potatoes,
120 g fresh butter,
one large pickled cucumber,
60 g of hard cheese,
one egg,
ground pepper and salt to taste.

The products are prepared. And now the cooking process itself.

1. Take the puff pastry out of the freezer twenty minutes before cooking and defrost it. We cut each layer of dough into six rectangles of the same size. Sprinkle with flour and roll slightly in one direction. We make neat cuts on opposite sides.

2. Boil peeled potatoes until tender and make mashed potatoes, adding salt to taste and 40 g of butter. Mix everything thoroughly until smooth. Cut the pork into small cubes, fry it in the remaining butter, which we melt in a pan. Fry on both sides over medium heat. Salt and pepper to taste. Cut the onion into half rings and add to the meat. Cover and simmer for ten minutes. Then, increasing the heat, simmer until the liquid completely evaporates. Put on a plate and cool.

Put one tablespoon of mashed potatoes on the prepared rectangles and evenly level them over the surface of the dough. Put the chilled meat with onions on top, and on it a cucumber, cut into small cubes.

3. Now gently wrap the dough one by one on both sides so that the cuts are located in the middle of the pie, one above the other.

4. Seal the edges firmly, giving the pie the shape of a boat.

5. Take a baking sheet and line it with baking paper. Carefully lay out the prepared boats on it. Grate the hard cheese and sprinkle on the boats. Beat the egg in a separate bowl and brush the dough products with a brush.
6. Preheat the oven to two hundred degrees. We put the baking sheet in the oven for twenty-five minutes. The boats should be golden and the cheese should melt and brown. We take out the finished puff pastry boats from the oven, cool a little, put on a dish and, decorating with sprigs of fresh herbs, serve. Bon appetit, everyone!

Cut the pickled cucumber into thin half rings and put on top of the meat.

Close the boats on both sides. The cuts in the dough will be in the middle of the pie.

Pinch the edges of the product on each side to make it look like a boat.

Place baking paper on a baking sheet. Arrange boats and brush with beaten egg.

Bake at 200 degrees until a beautiful ruddy color, about 15-20 minutes.

  • Butter - 100 gr.
  • Cheese - 50 gr.
  • Pepper, salt.

How to cook meat boats

Let's start with the filling. If you are lucky and have a bit of mashed potatoes left from dinner, then rejoice and use it. Otherwise, quickly peel and boil the potatoes. Grind in mashed potatoes, add a piece of butter (30 grams, not everything indicated in the recipe).

Work on meat at the same time. I don't like using minced meat too much. I prefer to chop meat products into small pieces.

Do not stand on ceremony with onions - cut into half rings.

Fry the meat pieces in a skillet, add the onion rings to them and fry together, not forgetting to pepper and salt the filling.

First cover with a lid, after 10 minutes remove the lid and wait for the juice to evaporate. Cool the workpiece slightly.

Cut the cucumbers into strips into a separate bowl.

Spread out the dough layers, divide into equal rectangles.

Roll out and make two parallel cuts as shown.

In the middle, between the cuts, lay out the potatoes, level them.

Spread the meat filling on top, in less quantity than mashed potatoes.

Top with cucumber straws.

Cover the filling with half a layer, stretching the incision on this side - the filling will open slightly.

Stretch the other half over the patty, stretching the dough again so that the filling remains visible.

Pinch the corners of the pie, it will look like a boat.

Whisk the egg, brush over the dough and filling.

Rub the cheese shavings and decorate the top of the boat.
